D&D: WizKids’ New Black Dragon Miniature Shows Off The 5.5E Redesign In All Its Glory
WizKids has unveiled a gruesome new Black Dragon miniature that shows off the 5.5E redesign in all its heavy metal majesty.
As you may or may not be aware, dragons of all shapes and sizes got a glow-up in the new edition of Dungeons & Dragons. In 5.5E, all your old favorites have new looks that show off their personality and feel a lot more individuated than ever before. You can see some of the artwork right here at BoLS.
But even the pictures don’t quite hammer home just how metal some of the new designs are. But WizKids has captured that essence in a new massive 75mm scale miniature of an Adult Black Dragon that looks ready to pose on the cover of a prog metal album circa 2013 in all the best ways.
WizKids Unveils New Adult Black Dragon Miniature
WizKids has the new dragon available in both painted and unpainted versions. So you can take the design and make it look however you want, although, with its horns and skull-like face, it is distinctly yours.
And this miniature is huge. With a 10-inch wingspan and 75mm base, it will be an imposing figure on any tabletop. Of course, the miniature isn’t expected to be released until Q1 2025, but neither is the 5.5E Monster Manual, which is where you’ll find the new rules for the Black Dragon. If it’s anything like the Green Dragon update, they’re going to hit harder and be more of a menace between turns.
“The Adult Black Dragon is among the most terrifying and hateful of the evil chromatic dragons. Wielding corrosive acid breath, Adult Black Dragons are drawn to secluded swamps and forgotten ruins when making their lairs.”
Corrosive acid breath, terrifying visage, what more could you want?
