Games Workshop has announced the Mechanicum Battle Group is coming to Legions Imperialis. Get ready for tiny robot overlords!

Well that didn’t take long! Legions Imperialis is about to get the a new army added to it by way of the Mechanicum. And if you’re thinking “didn’t we just get these for the Horus Heresy?” the answer is YES. But it looks like GW is putting those new 3D sculpts to work on a smaller, more EPIC scale now.

As the galaxy burned in the fires of the Horus Heresy, the forge worlds were drawn in the wars fought by the Legiones Astartes and Solar Auxilia. Soon, entire phalanxes of battle automata marched from their enclaves and threw themselves into the conflict, and these mighty machines now join the battlefields of Legions Imperialis with the Mechanicum Battle Group.

Mechanicum Arrive In Legions Imperialis

Good news from our Martian invaders: This isn’t the only box of them, either. While this launch box does come with a whopping 146 miniatures, you can bet individual kits for these units are likely on the way as well. But let’s break down each unit in the box (mostly because GW has pictures more pictures).

The first batch here is a the “infantry” units. There are Adsecularis Tech-thralls, Eight Thallax, and four Ursarax cohorts.

To lead them to battle you’re also getting a pair of Archmagi on Abeyants, four Myrmidon Destructor hosts, two Myrmidon Secutors, and two Tech-priest Auxilia units.

We’re also getting so rather impressive looking Battle Automata as well! This box has four Castellax Battle-automata maniples and eight Thanatar Siege-automata. I’m not going to lie, these may have me the most excited for this box!

There’s also some entirely NEW miniatures in this box, too. For the first time we’re getting two Arlatax Battle-automata! These are backed up by two Vorax Battle-automata Maniples.

And finally there’s two Vultarax Stratos-automata as well as four beefy Triaros Conveyors to move your troops across the battlefield!

That’s quite a spread of units packed into this box set. I’m glad to see the Battle Automata for sure. Now I wonder how long before we see plastic versions of the Arlatax Battle-automata in 40k scale! This is an exciting time to be an LI fan. Get ready for more from the Horus Heresy…
