This massive LEGO Red Keep brings the towering seat of power to life. It includes thousands of pieces, 65 sections, and hundreds of minifigs.

The Red Keep is one of the most iconic settings in Game of Thrones. It is the royal place of the Seven Kingdoms and is where the Iron Throne is located. First built by Aegon the Conqueror not long after his conquest, it has served as the seat of government for the Seven Kings since then. Towering over King’s Landing from atop Aegon’s High Hill, it is a massive and imposing structure.

The Castle has been added to over the years and includes many different buildings, keeps, and towers. It is famously riddled with secret passages. Catacombs and dungeons can be found beneath it. It’s one of the most important locations in the Seven Kingdoms and in Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire/Blood of the Dragon.

The LEGO Red Keep

Built over three years by Dario Minetti (aka dman122866), this massive MOC has over 100,000 pieces in it. For travel, it breaks down into 65 large sections. The whole MOC is truly massive, standing several feet tall. Dress up your cat as a dragon, and it can comfortably curl up inside this castle! It’s all built at roughly a mini-fig scale and populated by a wide cast. The LEGO Red Keep looms over people as much as the in-universe keep looms over the city!

While a lot of the inside is closed off and hollow, the exterior is chock full of details. There are numerous courtyards and gardens placed between the walls. It really drives home that is both a palace and a castle, and not just a fortification. Detailed walkways connect the various sections and towers. And, of course, these areas are all peopled by various mini-figs.

That’s not to say there are no inside spaces. Several of the smaller guard towers have inside spaces. Most impressive of all is the large and detailed banquet hall located towards the top of the central keep. Peering in, you can see a feast in progress!

On his YouTube channel, the creator has uploaded a timelapse of putting together the massive LEGO Red Keep at the Brick Fair in New Jersey.
