The Hulk isn’t the only Gamma Powered character these days in Marvel Comics. Let’s talk about a few more we’d love to see make the jump to the tabletop.

I’m not going to lie, when I found out that Abomination was coming to Marvel: Crisis Protocol I was pretty hyped. And now with Red Hulk (who’s on the list) coming to the MCU, I feel like it’s going to be time to bring on all the Gamma-juiced heroes and villains from Marvel. With that said, let’s dive in to my list of Five Gamma Powered Character we need in Marvel: Crisis Protocol.

Red Hulk

After his first appearance in Hulk (vol. 2) #1 in 2008 the Red Hulk has made his mark on the comic panels of Marvel. At first, his identity was actually a mystery with fans left to speculate as to who could he be. Red Hulk actually murdered Abomination early on, too — although he did get better later. Because “Comics!” However, we all now know that he’s actually the juiced up form of none other than Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross. In any case, Red Hulk is different enough from Banner to make him a great addition to the tabletop game and could have some really interesting twists.

And before we go too far, I’d be remiss if I didn’t give Red She-Hulk a shout out, too. But there are a few OTHER characters I’d like to tackle this time.

Weapon H

So, what if we took the Hulk, and give him bits of Wolverine’s DNA and abilities? Oh and Adamantium bonded to his bones, too? Because that’s basically what Weapon H is.  His alter-ego is named Clayton Cortez and it wasn’t entirely his choice to have this happen to him. That said, this guy is an absolute unit and the combination of powers is really terrifying.

Skaar, Son of Hulk

Okay, this one might take some explaining to do. But basically, Skaar is the son of the Hulk from the Planet Hulk story line. I’m not going to rehash that here but needless to say, Skaar pretty potent! I’m not entirely sure if he’s actually Gamma powered now that I think about it. His father is the Hulk and his mother was the alien Caiera. And he does have the ability to transform from a “ordinary male” to a “towering green humanoid” sooo, I guess that counts. If you’re powers are also derived from Banner’s exposure to Gamma Radiation, I guess that means you’re Gamma Powered, too.

That said Skaar also has some other powers on top be being a swordsmen in his own right. He’s kind of like Conan in some ways…especially after he start hanging out in the Savage Lands…

A-Bomb, Aka Rick Jones

Long time fans of Hulk might know the name Rick Jones. For those of you who don’t, Rick Jones is actually the reason there is a Hulk in a lot of ways. He was the dumb teenager in the car that was parked by the Gamma-bomb testing sight that Bruce Banner saved and was exposed to the Gamma Radiation in the first place. Rick eventually became a bit of a side-kick to Banner. Again, I’m skipping over a LOT of comic book history here. Anyhow, remember how I mentioned above that Red Hulk killed Abomination above? Well in that same story-arc/time period Rick became A-Bomb…

All that today, he’s not just a Blue Abomination. He’s got a lot of history and his A-Bomb form is actually pretty neat. I think he’d be a fun addition to Marvel: Crisis Protocol as a snapshot of Rick Jones from that point in his sorted career.

Brawn, aka Amadeus Cho

Amadeus Cho, aka Totally Awesome Hulk, aka “Brawn” is another one of those Hulk-sidekicks that has a long history with the Jade Giant. As Brawn, he combines his genius intellect (he’s currently ranked as the seventh-smartest person in the Marvel world) and the strength of being a “Hulk” — only with a bit more control.

As Brawn, he’s been depowered on the strength scale but make no mistake, he’s still STRONG. And he’s smart. He’s got the brains and the brawn. Hence the name! I think he’s be a nice way to add a character to the Gamma Powered roster but a lower threat than you’ve typically seen with a being of the Hulk’s strength.
