Love LEGO and Star Wars? Take a look at some of the best sets that combine them both.

LEGO Star Wars has a long history of putting out amazing kits. Over the years they’ve only really gotten better, with an amazing amount of great kits you can or could buy on the market. Today lets take a look at a few of the absolute coolest sets out there.

75375-A New Hope Millennium Falcon 25th Anniversary

We start off with the 25th Anniversary Millennium Falcon, which was just released this year to celebrate the launch of LEGO Star Wars. This is the Falcon on a smaller scale and for display. Despite its small size, it still clocks in at 921 pieces. It’s a cool little display set that can easily fit on a shelf and looks really slick.

Now there are a lot of other Falcon sets out there, but this has the advantage of being much cheaper than any of the others. It’s a lot of bang for your buck and a very easy Falcon to own. However, I’ve gotta give a shout-out to 75389- The Dark Falcon, which is basically a bunch of Star Wars memes in LEGO form.

10131: TIE Fighter Collection – 2004 LEGO Star Wars Set

Speaking of cool dogfight sets, we have the TIE Fighter Collection. This set is from 2004, which is still the early days of LEGO Star Wars, so these may not be the best versions of all the ships you can find.

However, this set was fantastic for giving you four ships of different types. This lets you build out a fleet of TIEs or have some crazy epic battles. It’s also one of the first, and few, set to pull elements from the Expanded Universe as it included a TIE/D. As far as I know, this was the only LEGO version of that often-forgotten ship.

75364- Ahsoka New Republic E-Wing vs. Shin Hati’s Starfighter

This is a relatively recent set tied into the Ashoka show. You get some of the cool characters from that show in mini-fig form, which is nice. Shin Hati’s fighter is a cool-looking retro ship, and a dogfight is always a nice kit. However, the real gem here is the E-Wing—a classic ship from the old Expanded Universe brought back into canon. This is the first time we’ve seen a LEGO version, and that’s super cool. I just love this LEGO Star Wars set.

75393- TIE Fighter & X-Wing Mash-up Building Set

I promise this is the last dog fight set on here. This one is the brand new Tight Fighter and X-wing mash-up set. Now, it comes with a serviceable X-Wing and TIE fighter. This is the classic match-up and lets you refight some great fights. But that’s not really the genius of the kit. You see, the S-foils on the X-Wing and the panels on the TIE can be swapped with each other, allowing you to build hybrid ships. There is actually a term for this in Star Wars: Uglies. It’s great to see them doing something different with these sets.

75159: Death Star – 2016 LEGO Star Wars Set

When you talk about playability, nothing beats the 2016 Death Star set, the second and better iteration of this idea.  This LEGO Star Wars set isn’t great at first look. You can tell it’s the Death Star based on its shape and primary weapon, but it’s not what we’ve come to expect from UCS or most Star Wars kits. However, this kit is pure genius.

It contains within its Death Star shaped build something like a dozen different rooms. All of them showing famous parts or scenes that could be found on both Death Stars. It’s jam-packed with details that let you play out a ton of climatic moments for the movies, with a bunch of clever moving parts. It’s a master class in design and cool factor. There is also a similar Cloud City set, which is worth checking out, though I think this is a better choice myself.

75382 –  Ultimate Collector Series TIE Interceptor

I think this is my current favorite set out there. The original UCS Interceptor came out way back in 2000 (and I owned it then!). It’s taken them 24 years to put out a second, but it might have been worth the wait. Clocking in at 1931 pieces, this is a solid kit with a ton of details and really cool building techniques. It’s also just a pretty ship.

It’s just a really cool set that looks amazingon display. It fits in very well with the other UCS fighters we’ve gotten over the last few years, and it’s a great addition to any collection.

BoLS might make a few bucks on anything you buy from these links. But, be honest, you don’t enjoy randomly browsing online stores. So let us do the annoying part for you. Help us help you.
