The Galactic Empire has some brand new enforcers coming with the Riot Control Squad. Get ready for their oppression to arrive!

The Riot Control Squad is coming to bust up the Rebellion’s protest and enforce the “law” of the Empire. They have heavy armor, stun batons, and bad attitude. We’ve got a box of them to preview from Atomic Mass Games so let’s get into it!

If you’re looking for more of a rules breakdown for this unit you can find it here. Atomic Mass Games dropped their rules already and they are going to be a solid melee-focused option for the Empire.

Riot Control Squad Unboxing

Content-wise, it’s pretty much what it says on the cover. We’ve got the two sprues that make up the squad, base, and the tokens/cards you need to field them. I am also still trying to find a use for all these plastic bags that AMG uses to pack their goods. I’ve got more than enough for sprues/bits baggies these days. Thankfully, I have plastic bag recycling option nearby so I’ve been taking advantage of that…Anyhow, let’s see those cards.

In the box we get the unit card and two upgrade options. Again, we covered these already. We’ve also got the various tokens as part of this unit, too.

If I were to run this squad I do feel like the KX-Series droids would be worth bringing. You get two of them in the box and that helps to round out the numbers. Plus they add that Impact 1, too. The Marksman is a nice option if you’ve got the points to spare as well.

As far as the sprues and minis go they are made from the harder plastic which is great for details and holding the sharpness. I actually think these minis are a lot more visually interesting than the Rebel Sleeper Cell box. Sure, they are “just Stormtroopers with shields” but at least they have some more textures going on. Their armor has a shape and cuts a strong silhouette. The Shields are big and flat but have enough paneling to make them more visually interesting.

This squad is all about intimidation and suppressing the opposition. Once they are built and painted, I think they are going to be able to do just that — suppress and oppress on the tabletop!

The Riot Control Squad has a release date slated for October 18, 2024 and is currently up for pre-order.

Star Wars: Legion – Imperial Riot Control Squad Unit Expansion $44.99

Deployed in response to growing unrest on Imperial Planets, Riot Control Squads are soldiers who specialize in suppressing unruly populations and containing violent civilian disturbances. They wield heavy shields, stun batons, and are commonly reinforced by specialist troopers such as Marksmen, or intimidating KX-series Security Droids. Their tactics are brutal and direct – often leading to physical confrontations between Riot Trooper squads and the citizens they are trying to manage. This expansion for Star Wars: Legion contains 7 finely sculpted Imperial Riot Control Squad miniatures, enough for one Corps unit, along with new unit and upgrade cards to ensure peace and prosperity across the galaxy.
