Lando Calrissian is certainly bringing the rizz to Star Wars: Shatterpoint. Let’s see how he can launch a charm offensive on the tabletop!

When it comes to Star Wars characters, few exude a level of cool like Lando Calrissian. He’s making his way to Shatterpoint and he’s got his Cloud City employees along for the ride. Let’s see what Lando, Lobot, and the Wing Guard are up with today’s rules preview.

via Atomic Mass Games

“Years after gambling away the Millennium Falcon, Lando Calrissian won big and became the baron administrator of Cloud City, an independent mining colony on the planet Bespin. Balancing the needs of tibanna mining, tourism, and a demanding mercantile class on Cloud City can be tricky, but Lando is always ready with a card hidden up his sleeve, a loaded die, or a quick exit.”

Lando Calrissian

Lando lands as a Primary Unit and has 8 Squad Points. That works out perfectly with his supporting cast which we’ll get to in a moment. At his core he’s got a heart of gold, but that doesn’t make him any less of a Scoundrel. Keep that in mind when you’re looking at options to bring with him as his first ability is a great way to move other Scoundrels around.

Hedged Bets allows you to pull conditions off units which is a really nice way for Lando to contribute to your game plan. This also allows you to put conditions on your enemies as well. Sabacc Shift allow for Lando to take on a condition in order to refresh two Force in your pool and then reshuffle his card back in your Order deck.

Conflicting Responsibilities is a neat way for you to be able to include him in either the Rebel Alliance or Galactic Empire — depending on the rest of the crew you want to run.

Offensively, Lando is no slouch! He’s not exactly a melee monster but Pure Sabacc does allow him so potent ranged options.

Lobot, Computer Liaison Officer

Now, I’m not going to go over all of Lobot’s abilities as you can read them from the card above. But I will say that as a 5PC secondary he better bring the goods! And he kinda does… You definitely want him with a Scoundrel heavy list as he’s got the best synergy with them. But I really like his Lockdown ability for objective Control. That really does make him worth considering for your squads.

Lobot isn’t exactly tearing up the combat scene but again, he can hold his own! He’s got some pretty easy access to a lot of good effects. And if you happen to get four steps in he’s also got a free Network Security ability. That can save you the force tokens to use for Lando’s Hedge Bets above.

Wing Guard

The Wing Guard are Cloud City’s security forces. They are only 3 SP and are a supporting unit. There’s not a ton to say about them other than thematically they fit with Lando (and Lobot) perfectly.

As far as abilities and attacks…they are a supporting unit. They are pretty okay at things but really are just bodies for the most part. Don’t get me wrong, they aren’t terrible — they are just like most Supporting Units if you know what I mean.

That said, if you can give them a little boost with a focus and Impact here and there they might just surprise you with a big swing on the melee front. This is what I mean with Supporting units. Often they feel like bodies in the way… but can actually win you the game with a surprise big play. Just don’t expect them to do it all the time. It’s nice when it happens and you should always be on the look out for it. Just don’t build your victory conditions on some rather big “ifs” and high risk/low reward moves.
