The Best Ship for Destroying All Of Humanity – Space Battleship Yamato’s Gatlantis, The City Ship of the Comet Empire
The Comet Empire came close to wiping out humanity, and the secret, it turns out, is a massive city-sized ship.
The Comet Empire, sometimes known to humanity as Gatlantis, takes its name from a massive city-sized space ship known also as Gatlantis. This same ship nearly wiped out life on Earth. It was stopped, at the last minute, due to the brave crew of the Space Battleship Yamato, which had a knack for punching well above its weight.
But what made the ship so deadly? And how does something the size of a planetoid come to resemble a comet? The answer lies in the Amdromeda Galaxy.
Gatlantis – Conqueror of A Galaxy
The Gatlantis was the primary capital of the White Comet Empire. And it is thought that the Gatlantis helped its people take over the Andromeda galaxy, and gave them the boldness to take on the Milky Way and Earth as the heart of humanity. A species so primitive they had barely begun discovering Wave Motion technology.
Add to that, the fact that the Earth was the most bewitching planet that the White Comet Emperor, Zwordar, had ever seen, and you have a recipe for subjugation. So the full military might of the White Comet Empire was mobilized. Where Gatlantis travels, so too does the center of the Empire. And since the city ship functions as a fleet carrier and refueling platform, as well as home to the fighting populace, it was the perfect platform for galactic domimance.
At the heart of it, a signature energy drive that gave it a cascading spiral of white plasma, giving the Empire its iconic name.
The Gatlantis – Plasma, Planetoids, and Plans
The Gatlantos’ most unique technological advancement was its comet drive. This was a massive plasma construct that could break down any debris – enemy ships, asteroids, even fragments of destroyed planets were all fuel in the eyes of the Gatlantis.
The Plasma Spiral also protected the massive ship, though it was capable of being knocked out of alignment via an attack from multuple Wave Motion Guns.
Owing to the vessel’s unique hull design – a hemispheroid constructed from some long-forgotten celestial body now used as the core of the vessel, while an entire city sits atop it – the Gatlantis is capable of mounting an attack from every angle. It is fitted with equatorial missile launchers, as well as energy cannons that can move, providing extra firepower or coverage where needed. While the bottom half of the Gatlantis is riddled with hidden cannons that can retract within the planetary body, as well as the foritified hangar at its base. The hangar was also the ship’s only vulnerability. And it was there that the Space Battleship Yamato struck, crippling the ship and giving Earth room to breathe in its war with the White Comet Empire.
And while the Gatlantis was destroyed – the threat of the Empire still remains…
