Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Custom Controller
The Warhammer Merchandise Store has some fancy Space Marine 2 swag including this new custom controller for Xbox.
I know a lot of folks can be very fanatical about licenses and products. I’m not really one of those people. I’ve never purchased a limited edition console or controller for a specific game release. So when we got asked by the Warhammer Merch team if we wanted a review copy of the Space Marine 2 Custom Controller for Xbox, I figured “sure — why not?!” I’ve never had a “fancy” Xbox controller even though I’ve had lots of them in the past. Maybe a nice custom one would be cool. Well the package arrived and I’m here to take a look at this one with you!
It came in a very fancy box and I’m probably going to keep this as part of a display — which is probably where the controller is going to live when I’m not actively using it. That’s neat. It also came with a QR code flyer as well:

So what about the controller itself? Now here’s where we get to the “custom” part of things…
It has this custom art image that’s been printed on the top of the controller. As you can see, it’s got a satin finish that just loved to grab all the light in my photos (sorry).
It has the logo and as well as a few Tyranids and a Primaris Space Marine on it as well. Fitting as that’s who you’ll be playing as in Space Marine 2.
The controller’s top is smooth-ish. If you’ve held other Xbox controllers in the past then you know what I mean. But the bottom and trigger buttons have a slight texture to them. I’m sure that’s to help with the grip. This is certainly one of the newer style Xbox controllers you’d get in the console box or from the store — but it’s not an Xbox Elite controller. So keep that in mind.
Other than the impressive art on the top and the texture it’s a regular Xbox controller. Now, I haven’t gotten to game with it yet — that will be happening later. But I’m looking forward to it. All the tech specs you can see are on the product page as well, if you’re into that sort of stuff.
It’s a nice controller for sure! I don’t think this is a purchase everyone is going to want to rush out and make however. While the art is cool, if you’re like me, this feels like a luxury item that you probably wouldn’t pick-up on your own. It would be an awesome gift from a friend or family member(albeit an expensive one).
I also feel like this is for the types of gamers that really like when they’ve got the exclusives or limited edition things for specific releases. I remember the limited edition Cyberpunk 2077 releases as an example. If you’re the type of person who’s into those more power to you! I’m a pretty vanilla guy when it comes to my gaming gear however. I go for function or style. I need my gear to work and be practical first and stylish a distant second. This is definitely a more stylish option.

There is certainly some cool Space Marine 2 themed swag on the store if you’re into that stuff. I wouldn’t mind that Displate Set… But you do you! If you’re a mega fan then you’re going to want to check out all those offers for sure.
Space Marine 2 is up for pre-order and and the pre-release window starts tomorrow. The official launch date is September 9, 2024. I’ll see you in game!
