‘Warhammer 40K Darktide’s New Balance Update Will Have Huge Changes For All Classes
Warhammer 40K: Darktide is getting a big new balancing patch at the end of the month – classes, weapons, everything – come see what’s changing.
The upcoming Warhammer 40K Darktide update is a big one. It would be huge enough with just the planned changes to itemization and progression in the game. But there’s so much more coming, including new changes to the way weapons work, as well as to classes, abilities, and more. There’s a ton to get through. So much so that Fatshark released 28 pages of patch notes ahead of the release.
Darktide’s New Update is Going to Be Real Big
It is not every day that you see more than twenty pages of patch notes. But then, not every game is Warhammer 40K: Darktide. It has been on quite the journey to get here, and as the game keeps evolving, you can see the hard work and care the devs are putting into every update.
We aren’t going to cover all twenty-eight pages here, of course, but you’ll find a link to the full patch notes at the end of the article. For now, though, here are some of the highlights, starting with a significant rework to Thunder Hammers:
“The Thunder Hammer family of weapons suffered for being over-specialized into the Monstrosity-removal niche, while being very underwhelming against most other threats and in general failing at keeping up with the increased intensity of high difficulty missions.
While the upper end of the damage on Special activated attacks against the Unyielding armor type has been lowered to prevent unhealthy 1-shots of Monstrosity enemies, the damage against Carapace Armour has also been significantly increased to conversely be able to more effectively handle Elite enemies like Maulers and Crushers (potentially dispatching them with a single well placed hit).”

But the Thunder Hammer is only one family of weapons. The Boltgun/Bolt Pistol set get some pretty targeted buffs to up their reliability. Devil’s Claw Swords have increased parry. Pickaxes have more stagger. And in general many weapons, especially the ones that felt they were lagging get a little love.
But more excitingly, Psyker players will find that they get some pretty significant updates as well. As Fatshark puts it, they “hope to remedy” the situation by giving them more Passive Nodes and updating the talent tree.
So if you want to customize the way you bring the Warp to bear on your enemies, September 26th may be the perfect time to jump in and start playing an updated Psyker.
