Warhammer 40K: Kill Team – Hivestorm Has A ‘Top Secret Mission’ Coming In October
Games Workshop is launching Kill Team: Hivestorm next month and has a special scenario planned — and you could win some prizes!
It appears that Games Workshop is taking a page from the 40k and AoS new edition launches for Kill Team. Those two systems saw a massive global campaign to determine the fate of a world/city. This time around the stakes are…still under wraps. But what little info we do have points to another chance for YOU to win some prizes. The catch is that this time around you’re only going to have one day to do it…
Details of the mission are still highly classified, but deployments commence on Saturday the 12th of October – and you’ll have just that one day to play the special scenario and record your results online. Make sure you’re signed up to the Warhammer newsletter before the 11th of October to secure an invitation.
Do all that, and you’ll be entered into a spectacular prize draw to win one of every new Kill Team release* until the end of 2025. That’s right, every new kill team and boxed set will be sent right to your door. Five lucky commanders will win, so take part, record your results, and pray to the God-Emperor.

Kill Team Releases For A Year
So that’s the basics of this event from Games Workshop. On October 12, 2024 you’ll have the opportunity to record your results on a website from GW and then you’ll be entered to win. Five lucky participants will then be chosen to score all the Kill Team goodies for a year! That’s likely going to be quite a bit of prize support. You’ll only have 24 hours to record your results so you’re going to want to be ready when this event goes live.
Also you’ll want to sign-up for the GW newsletter before the 11th of October to get an invite. Otherwise, you won’t be able to win…
This is a relatively tight window from GW. Kill Team: Hivestorm is going up for Pre-order this weekend. There’s a two-week pre-order window. That means the boxed sets won’t be hitting shelves until October 5th. Then, one week later, the “Secret Mission” happens. Assuming you’re getting the box on launch day that means you’ve got a week to build your stuff so you can play.
I know for some folks out there that doesn’t seem like much of a challenge while for others a week seems like way too short of a window; not everyone has the same amount of time to do hobby stuff. Still, I think that’s a pretty fair chunk of time. It’s not like the event is going to require you to have all your stuff built the day the box drops.
Assuming people that want to participate in the “secret mission” aren’t going to just fake their results, I do wonder how many participants are going to dive into this one. I don’t think this player pool is going to be as large as say the 40k or AoS launch events (which had a similar setup with a website and results to submit). What that means is that if you ARE picking up the Hivestorm box and you want to participate in this event you’ve probably got some (relatively) decent odds — at least as good as anyone else entering!
My advice is to check with your local store to see if they have any more info or if they are running anything for the launch. And if you’re going to pick-up a box of Hivestorm anyhow, you might as well submit your results on the 12th! Who knows — you might be one of the lucky few that wins all the Kill Team releases for a year!
