Warhammer 40K: Kill Team – We Still Need Chaos Space Marine Legion Kill Teams
Nemesis Claw was the first. So please, Games Workshop, can you make more Chaos Space Marine Legion specific Kill Teams?
When the Nemesis Claw Kill Team dropped I was impressed with the new kit. It was a great way to customize basically ALL the miniatures from the Chaos Space Marines box into a specific Chaos legion — in this case the Night Lords. And GW did a bang-up job with it.
We took a closer look at these models and yes, they really are great! With the new edition of Kill Team on the way I really have been taking a look back at the Kill Teams. And I can’t help but come back to this particular Kill Team and think “These are fantastic…so what about the OTHER Chaos Legions?”
Bring On The Other Chaos Space Marine Legions
While I’d love to see these Legions in Kill Team, I really just want the upgrade packs like the Night Lords got, but for the various other Legions. We’ve see GW do this for the Horus Heresy already — and those were resin. But what I’m talking about specifically is the plastic sprues to take the base Chaos Space Marines and turn them into a specific Legion.
Imagine all the OTHER Legions getting this same treatment as the Nemesis Claw Kill Team. Unique weapons/should pads. An Icon bearer. Some new capes or trophies to attach. It would be amazing!
And when I’m saying the “OTHER” Legions, I mean the ones that aren’t already represented. So no more Thousand Sons, Death Guard, or World Eaters. Heck, the Emperor’s Children are probably out, too. They have Cult Troops of their own. That really just leaves a trio left:
- Iron Warriors
- Word Bearers
- Alpha Legion
I think that GW could spare the resources to whip up three upgrade sprues for the Iron Warriors, Word Bearers, and Alpha Legion and give them the Nemesis Claw treatment. Heck, I think it would be even BETTER if they just offered up those sets as a completely separate upgrade. Give the Chaos Space Marine players out there the option to build some sweet, sweet Legion specific CSM units. I’m not even asking for a full conversion suite for every model — just the basic CSM guys.
And if you’re asking “What about the Black Legion?” Well, they are kind of the default option already. And yes, you could just paint the CSM minis to fit into the other Legions…but that’s not the point. They deserve the Nemesis Claw treatment!
