Warhammer 40K: The Five Best Primaris Space Marine Glow-Ups
The crossing of the Rubicon Primaris has allowed Games Workshop to redesign some classics. Here’s a top five favorites.
There’s a LOT of named characters that are Space Marines. While not all of them have made the jump to Primaris status, quite a few have. Today, we’re taking a quick look at a handful that we think made the most of their new status as Primaris Marines.
Marneus Calgar
I want to kick this one off with one of the updates to the Primaris’d versions of characters GW has done. Why Marneus Calgar? Because of the way Games Workshop updated his armor to the new MkX Gravis Armour while also keeping the Gauntlets of Ultramar. Plus, he was technically the very first to undergo the Primaris surgery. So, yeah…he absolutely deserves to be on this list!
Mephiston
I’ve got a soft spot for the Space Vampires and Mephiston’s Primaris model is just a really cool nod to the character and the old artwork. While a lot of his new armor is hidden beneath his robes, I just like this version of the character more than some of the other updates to the Blood Angel’s Primaris’d characters. And I didn’t want to load this list up with Chapter Masters. Speaking of which…
High Marshal Helbrecht
This is just a cool model with a great pose. While it certainly has a LOT going on (some would say too much) I think of this one as more of a stand-alone diorama than a pure Space Marine Character. Also, the attendants cleaning off his sword and carrying his combi-weapon are just a nice touch over all. He’s just got too much stuff for only two hands!
Azrael, Supreme Grand Master of the Dark Angels
Stoic, stern, and classy Azrael is on our list. I do appreciate this one just for it’s clean lines and simple elegance. That’s not something you can say for a lot of Chaos Marines. Maybe it’s the lack of spikes that I like about this miniature. He’s also the only Chaos Marine that’s on our list, as you can see.
Ragnar Blackmane
Ragnar’s Primaris miniature really upped the ferocity in my opinion. He’s WAY more dynamic than his old sculpt — but that’s more a product of it’s time. I like how he’s leaping into battle and doesn’t seem to have a care or concern for his own safety. Also, that’s a HUGE chainsword, folks.
Bonus: Demetrian Titus
Spoilers for anyone who hasn’t played Space Marine 2 yet, but Titus undergoes the Rubicon Primaris and comes out on the other side ready to slay out. I like the new miniature for him (even though it’s technically just another Space Marine Lieutenant). I need to get my hands on this miniature to see if you can do a head swap. I kinda want to put Titus’ head on a few different Space Marines for some reason. The Bladeguard Veterans come to mind…
