Warhammer Games to Pick Up if You Like ‘Space Marine 2’
Have you been enjoying Space Marine 2 and need some more? Even if you play THE Warhammer, there’s a lot more 40K out there.
Space Marine 2 is doing well right now. Even outside of the world of regular Warhammer players, Space Marine is getting plays and generally seeing really positive reviews. I know people who are very into Star Wars and haven’t thought much about Warhammer in years who are taking a moment to decide between the two video games. So if you’re enjoying Space Marine and are new to 40K, or have loved the series forever and could always use more ways to play, these games will keep the deep space brutality fun going.
1. Warhammer 40K Intro Set
Enjoying the one thing and now you’re considering delving a little deeper into the hobby? That’s always how it starts, right? And honestly, this one seems overwhelmingly large, not to mention expensive. This intro set will let you dip your toes in enough to see if Warhammer is the game for you without the huge financial investment. You’ll build and paint your first few models and have enough to play your first game with all of the tokens, markers, guides, and dice you’ll need. If it’s for you, that’s awesome. But if it’s not, you haven’t wasted too much time or money. And you’ll have some fun new minis for your shelf.
2. Space Marine Adventures
This boardgame puts you in the shoes of a Space Marine squaring up against an evil alien overlord. Instead of a miniature game, this is more of a classic board game where in order to win, players must successfully complete various mission objectives. This is also a cooperative game as opposed to a competitive one.
3. Warhammer Risk
Do you just enjoy highly competitive, longwinded, war-themed strategy games? Are you already a fan of Risk? Did you know you could get Risk with a Warhammer theme? This is the same basic game of controlling territory and defeating your enemies. But with that space marine spin. This is the same basic idea as Monopoly-for-every-occasion-and-interest. Only it’s Risk. And it’s your interest.
4. Relic
In Relic two to four players take on the roles of powerful residents of the 40K universe, and shield the Antian Sector from certain doom. This is a game of completing missions to claim victory over your enemies and earn your rewards. And this is also a game where it feels like they put in the work to make it nice and detailed. Playing Relic isn’t playing a game of Warhammer, but also it’s defintely Warhammer. Y’know?
5. Munchkin 40K
You know Munchkin, right? It’s a classically nerdy, very fun, and very goofy card game. Only this time you collect some armor and wield some terrifying weapons, to fight the monsters, grab the treasures, and win. If you haven’t played Munchkin, this is a great reason to pick it up; there’s a reason it’s remained popular for so long. And if you have played, weren’t you thinking the game needed more Space Marines? No? Are you thinking it now?
