Dead by Daylight x D&D is pretty cool and all, but I mean, Five Knights At Freddy’s is right there people.

Wizards of the Coast has promised that the future of D&D is digital. But as we’ve seen, it takes more than just the form of the virtual tabletop. With games like Baldur’s Gate 3 you’ve got that original D&D goodness. But we’ve also seen D&D cropping up in interesting places – video game places. Recently there was the Dead by Daylight x D&D crossover spectacular event, where players could unlock the archlich Vecna and try to kill those meddlesome fools once and for all.

But why should Dead by Daylight be the only video game to get the D&D crossover treatment? With that in mind, here are five video games that would make about as much sense to crossover with D&D.

Five Knights at Freddy’s

This one’s pretty easy. It’s the typical gameplay of FNAF except you have a crystal orb or some other scrying device that you have to monitor and the enemies are, let’s face it, probably some kind of Deathknight or enchnted construct. But if we were all really lucky, instead, the enemies might be a party of adventurers turned secretly murderous.

Stardew Valley

I don’t have a clever pun for this one, but the farming and crafting in this game seem like they would lend themselves quite well to the fantasy aspects of Dungeons & Dragons. Plus, a mod team is already hard at work on making this happen, bringing Astarion and Shadowheart to the village so you can live out your cozy BG3 dreams in yet another video game sooner, rather than later.

Dave the (Dungeon) Diver

Dave the Diver is one of the surprise hits of last year. The big budget indie-style game captured hearts and minds and reawakened a love of sushi in a significant chunk of the populace. Tghen they crossed over with Godzilla. I could easily see a quest to fetch a magic sword for Bancho to wield against the hapless fish and other dungeon creatures Dave could rustle up from the Blue Hole.

Just imagine hauling up a Kraken. Or a Zaratan. Or any of the other sea monsters from the manual. Then turning them into delicious sushi bowls for a profit.

UnDeath Stranding

You’ve heard of Die Hardman, now check out Un Deadman, as a new set of NPCs who claim to mysteriously have dealings with another world – realms once rememered but now long forgotten, appear for Norman Reedus to deliver packages to. In this take on the Strand-type game, you might even wander through the rolling hills and difficult to traverse landscapes of the Sword Coast, temporarily.

Yakuza: Like A Dungeons & Dragon

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is already a turn-based RPG. And the series already has a lot of nods to pop culture – imagine if a new suite of RPG-playing enemies and cosplayers was available for you to either fight or try and recruit and help out. Mostly I just want to see Ichiban Kasuga beat someone up with a giant d20.

What would your video game/D&D crossover be?!
