Games Workshop dropped a new Rumor Engine and this one got a little pretentious. But we’re okay with that …for now.

Welcome to another Tuesday Rumor Engine from Games Workshop. Today’s image is one that could be teasing something rather big. But before I jump into the theories, you should have a look at it first. It’s a rip-roaring goodtime today.

“The chainsword is a pretty iconic design, and it leaves many avant-garde engineers in the 41st Millennium looking for ways to spice up their inventory. This limb clearly takes influence from the Vashthaus school of postmodern design and genetor entries into the art world from the late 740.M41s, by marrying the organic with the artificial as a commentary on the dualistic nature of life in the 41st Millennium. “

Rumor Engine: Vashthaus School of Postmodern Design

See, I told you it was getting pretentious. Anyhow, the text could be a big teaser or a massive red herring. If it’s actually a clue then the “Vashthaus School of Postmodern Design” is a clear reference to Vashtorr.

And since Vashtorr is the basically a chaos demi-god of the forge and is keen on daemon engines this is likely something right up his alley. The merging of technological and organic in such an …unsettling way is likely his handy work. And one particular unit comes to mind.

Obliterators are one of those Chaos Space Marine units that got a new kit. But not in a way that allows for people to easily collect or customize them. I’ve been wondering when and if we’d ever see a combo kit for them and the Mutilators which need some love.

I think an updated Mutilator kit with some crazy daemonically powered organic chainsaws would be pretty darn cool! Then again, what if it’s not a chainsword?! It’s entirely possible that this could be a very different weapon altogether. I’m not sure what it could be but I don’t want to rule that possibility out.

Having said that, I do want to point out the blade design is reminiscent of the War Dog Karnivors from the Chaos Knights. And the scale of the chainsword image is also a little hard to gauge. And, again, if this a Vashtorr special, it’s likely some sort of crazy daemon engine anyhow. In any case, this is a pretty cool teaser! I can’t wait to find out what this one turns out to be!

If you’ve got any ideas on this one drop us a line in the comments. Is it a chainsword or something else?!
