Marvel: Crisis Protocol – 5 Characters With Wings We Want To See
With Angel/Archangel out and about in Marvel: Crisis Protocol we have a few more characters with wings we want to see added to the tabletop.
Okay, I’m blaming Ben for this one. He’s been painting up Archangel and messaged me the idea for this article. We got to chatting about it and yeah, these are the five characters we want to see added to Marvel: Crisis Protocol that have wings!
Darkhawk
There are few characters that scream “90’s Marvel” more that Darkhawk. He’s a Spider-Man like character, but a with a bit of Captain America’s ideals and some of the edginess of Wolverine. Without getting into too much background, his name is Christopher Powell and he started as a teenager who found a mysterious amulet. When he activated it (because Comics!) he swapped places with a powerful android body that his mind somehow still controlled. He would use this new suit to battle crime in the city.
That’s the basics of his story but things get a lot more complicated from there. What I always liked about him were his wings and how they were retractable. Also, he’s a member-ish of the New Warriors…sorta. And if we’re getting Nova, Darkhawk could totally hang with him. Just tossing that out there.
Angel Salvadore
So this one might be a deeper cut that some of the others on this list. When you think of “Angel from the X-Men” this character probably isn’t the one you think of. But Angel Salvadore was actually in the New X-Men comic and also was in X-Men First Class, too. She was played by Zoë Kravitz. Anyhow, as a mutant she could fit in with the X-Men and or the New Warriors (if they ever get a team). She’s probably most notable for having fly-like wings and powers. She’s also got the alternate name of Tempest, too! Angel’s powers have also changed over time as well so there’s some more art of her without the wings being so obvious.
Annihilus
I’ve been hoping we see this super villain for a while now. Annihilus has been the ruler of the Negative Zone at times in his history and is actually a pretty massive threat — when he shows up in the Main 616 universe. He’s fought with the Fantastic Four on many occasions. But I personally remember him more for the Annihilation Wave event. He’s also interacted with Nova and even Darkhawk among other heroes…Are we sensing a theme here?
Sauron
No not from Middle Earth! Sauron from the Savage Lands of Marvel Comics! This pterodactyl-like villain is the alter ego of Dr. Karl Lykos. He’s also an energy vampire and can hypnotize creatures with his eyes. Oh and he’s got fire breath, too. Why? Because Comics! I’ll be honest, I just want him in here as a bit of a nostalgia kick from the X-Men show. But he’s got wings so he fits!
Bloodhawk 2099
This is Lemuel Krug, better know as Bloodhawk from the 2099 universe. And yes, that does mean despite his name, he’s not an Image Comics character. Look, since we know we’re getting a Spider-Man 2099, why not a couple more characters from that universe? And Bloodhawk has wings so he fits our criteria! He’s also shows up to aid the X-Men of 2099 quite a bit as he’s a mutant himself. However, I don’t think he ever formally joined the team.
