Marvel: Crisis Protocol – Five More ‘Monsters’ We Want Added To The Game
Atomic Mass Games is bringing the Marvel Monsters tomorrow but here’s a few more “monsters” we’d love to see in Marvel: Crisis Protocol!
The Monsters Unleashed Character Pack is on the way and should be in stores tomorrow. I got a look at the contents already and I’m thrilled about these characters. But that got Ben and I thinking of a few more “monsters” characters we both want in the game. Now, if you’re wondering why monsters is in quotes its because these characters aren’t traditional monsters like the ones in the pack. However, they are pretty monstrous — at least in their visuals. So let’s dive in!
Ch’od
Okay, I know what you’re probably thinking: “Wait, isn’t that just Abomination…with a gun?” And I can see the similarities. But no. That’s Ch’od. He’s actually one of the founding members of the Starjammers. I wanted to include him because we ARE getting Gladiator. So there could be whole Shi’ar thing going on.
Also, Ben wanted him on this list because he look similar to the Creature From The Black Lagoon…and yeah. I agree. I think he’d be a physical powerhouse so I’d probably slot him in that Frankenstein’s Monster slot.
Wolfsbane
Okay, this isn’t the greatest image of Rahne Sinclair, aka Wolfsbane. But she was a member of The New Mutants and also X-Force. She’s also been associated with the X-Men a bunch. But she’s on the list because she’s basically a werewolf. And I know there’s more to her powers than that…but this is a list for “monsters” and she could totally be that character. Although, she’s not the only one…
Wendigo
While it might be tempting to slot Wendigo into the same type of spot as a “Werewolf” that’s not entirely accurate. This monster is actually based (loosely) on the Algonquian people‘s legend. The Wendigo is not just a single person but instead a creature that is the manifestation of a curse. That curse is derived from an act of cannibalism. So there’s not just one of them.
Many Wendigos have battled other characters over the years. Hulk and Wolverine probably leap to mind the fastest. But they’ve also battled with the likes of Alpha Flight, Spider-Man, and even She-Hulk, too.
Because of Wendigo’s cursed origins, I’d slot this character close to something like a Mummy or a creature with a slightly more mystic bend. It’s a physical threat for sure. But there’s some mystical regeneration that happens because of the curse.
Morbius
Yeah. It’s Morbin’ Time. Morbius, the Living Vampire, will fill in that “vampire” slot nicely. And look, I know about the movie and we’re just going to ignore that, okay? In the comics he’s better and his story is arguably much better. Plus he’s not in the game and there’s always room for more Spider-Friends/Fiends.
Bonus: Sasquatch
This is really just a backdoor way to get Alpha Flight added but I also like Sasquatch. Maybe it’s because I saw Harry and the Hendersons as a kid and always like the idea of a kind, but misunderstood “Bigfoot” there to help. If you’re not familiar with the character’s origins, it’s an interesting one. Without going into all the details, Dr. Walter Langkowski is a physicist and was basically trying to become Canada’s Hulk by experimenting with Gamma Radiation. It worked. Sort of.
Anyhow, I like Sasquatch and I’d consider him in either the Mummy or Frank’s slot. He’s also a freakin’ genius, too. So he’s got the power of science on his side.
