The devil is in the details and today we’re taking an up close look at them with Mephisto unboxed for Marvel: Crisis Protocol.

Okay, I’m going to try and keep the devil puns to a minimum but no promises. Today, we’ve got an up close look at the new Mephisto character pack for Marvel: Crisis Protocol courtesy of Atomic Mass Games. They sent us a review copy and I got to bust him out, take a look at everything, and get him built. I haven’t painted him up just yet but that’s coming. Anyhow, let’s dive into the new Mephisto, Lord of Temptation character pack!

CP66…I see what you did there AMG.

Mephisto Character Pack Unboxing

Like we always do, here’s the exact contents of the box. It’s got a bag for the sprue and a bag for the cards. Not too much else to say about this one. So let’s check out that sprue!

Mephisto comes on a single sprue and he’s even got a custom base. It’s a 50mm in case you were wondering. I really like the details over the whole miniature. The legs have texture to them as well as the wrist wraps. Also, Mephisto is jacked. I guess he’s been hitting the weights in his hellish realm. There’s also some extra flames that come on the sprue. I’ll be honest, since I didn’t have instructions for assembly (I just had to dry fit stuff to figure it out) I wasn’t sure where they went exactly. But, to be fair, you can’t really tell on the finished miniature anyhow. What I’m saying is use them or don’t — up to you!

As far as the cards go, we already did a full breakdown of his character card (both healthy and injured side) as well as his Team Tactic Cards. So go check that out for more of a deep dive. What I will say is that Mephisto is going to light stuff up with the incinerate special condition. Plus, he’s got a funky Devil’s Due mechanic that can also really juice him up. So just be aware of that if you’re facing off against him.

Mephisto, Lord of Temptation Up Close

As far as assembly goes, Mephisto was pretty easy to build. Aside from not knowing exactly where the extra flames went, everything else is very straight forward.  I really like how this one turned out overall.

His custom base is a nice touch and I do like his overly dramatic cape. It kind of looks like he’s almost stepping out of a portal from the front. It’s a cool sculpt. While he’s not as big as I thought he would be I’m okay with that.

He’s still over-sized compared to other characters and he’s got that devilish grin, too. He’s certainly going to stand out on the tabletop. I’m really looking forward to seeing what the community does for paint jobs on him. I’m fully expecting some awesome OSL looks from the fires below him. And his mini is super characterful as well. While it might be tempting to just slap some red paint on him and call it a day, I think it’s going to really come down to more subtle tones and shades of red to make him pop. I’m looking forward to painting this one!
