‘Total War: Warhammer 3’ – Ogre Kingdoms Rework, Plus Vampires FINALLY Get Grave Guard With Halberds
Big changes are in the works for Total War: Warhammer 3. From Ogre Kingdoms getting overhauled to Vampires getting grave, here’s what’s up.
Total War: Warhammer 3 is back in business with a big new upcomming patch, Patch 5.3. And a new dev blog pulls back the curtain a little on some of the reworks and new additions that players can expect to find. I think the biggest change is a rework to the Ogre Kingdoms, who have seen two of their core features get a touch-up. If you thought that might be because there’s more Ogre Kingdoms content in the works, you’d be right.
A future DLC will have the Ogres hungry for more. But besides the Ogre Kingdoms overhaul, there’s a number of other improvements and additions coming in Patch 5.3. Here’s what we saw in the dev blog.
Total War: Warhammer 3 – Ogre Kingdoms Overhaul
Let’s start with the biggest changes. First up, an Ogre Kingdoms recruitment rework. After hearing player feedback, the devs have taken a look at the Ogre mercenary recruitment system and made a few substantial changes, which should be great for anyone looking to hire on some hungry hungry helpers:
- Ogre Mercenary unit cap increased to 3 (was 1)
- Replenish Rate is now 1 unit every 5 turns
- Mercenary quality improves with the tier of Ogre Camp
- More mercenary units now available from Ogre Camps
So if you’ve been wanting to hire Ogre Bulls or Maneaters or Mournfang Cavalry you’ll soon be able to. Provided you can find the right camps.
The devs also overhauled the Mercenary Contracts system as well, renaming them to “Bounties” which should clue us in as to what to expect from the DLC. But there’s more than just a name change. There’s a few other big tweaks to how the system works, including:
- A new UI
- A new rolling objective “bounty system”
- All objectives available continually
But that’s just the start of the changes. There’s a lot of rebalancing in the works, including to the balance of certain items, spells, and of course, to battles. But it’s not just adjusting numbers. Vampire players will be excited to know that the Grave Guard with Halberds are finally arriving! These halberdiers will give Vampire Counts a significant punch for cheaper than Blood Knights while tearing through enemy armor.
All this in Patch 5.3!
Look for the new patch soon! It’s coming October and there’s only so many days left.
