Warhammer 40K: Best Old School Marine Tanks for 10th Edition
Goatboy here with the best Rhino-based Marine tanks and why they are suddenly good in Warhammer 40K 10th Edition after all these years.
Goatboy here and it’s crazy to think how the Predator has had a bit of a renaissance lately. The ability for a lot of armies to take them, rules that benefit their shooting, and just a well-costed platform has really made the old “Rhino” Chassis powerful in the new 40K. Let’s go through the top 5 Rhino Chassis based tanks and why they are now “good” in 10th Edition.
It’s crazy to think how long the good ole’ Rhino chassis has stood the test of time. No matter how many “floating” options we have out there the good ole Rhino still has some pep in its step especially if you look at them in the Chaos version. These tanks still hit hard which is great as while the armies have a lot of cool units – having some powerful shooting options is helpful.
5. Chaos Predator Annihilator
This is the Lascannon variant of the Predator we all know and love. It is designed to wreck tanks and Monstrous creatures which the ability to reroll damage of 1 when hitting things with its plethora of Lascannons. It appears the same with all army options right now and while it isn’t the greatest when you combo it with other army options it does do some work as needed.
4. Razorback
It is crazy this thing is still in the game but it does do some work – if you are using a ton of old Marines. The ability to shoot at an enemy unit and have the unit that disembarked out of this to get a reroll to wound seems pretty good. I think if this unit gets cheaper it could start to show up even more. Especially with things like Long Fangs getting cheaper in Space Wolves.
3. Chaos Vindicator
The Chaos ones seem powerful as being able to Dark Pact and get more explosive hitting can be very a powerful toll versus the enemy. Throw in Abaddon holding the fort behind a few of these and you get a rerolling platform of death. I really wish these were in World Eaters as it would give the army some massive “push forward” options to help keep the enemy back and let you control some lanes a bit better.
2. Chaos Predator Destructor
This tank seems to be the poster child in some CSM lists as it can throw out a ton of damage. Heck if you throw it in Renegade Raiders, you could start to have some AP-3 Autocannons and Heavy Bolters. This seems pretty brutal versus infantry-based armies as a ton of damage 3 and 2 hits are just rough to deal with.
1. The Rhino
The Rhino is still the best tank for this Chassis. There isn’t anything else out that there that is this cheap for this many wounds. It protects your units from incoming enemy fire, randomly Tank Shocks ok, and has a decent amount of anti-infantry fire as needed. It is the best tank for all those Chaos Armies as it gives you an action monkey, a box to push lanes with, and some fun movement shenanigans.
What old school Marine tank do you like the best? I know the Marines have all the fun with some of their floating options and single Impulsors showing up in most Marine lists but what else is cool?
