The Tempestus Aquilons and the Vespid Stingwings have free rules you can download for use in Warhammer 40,000!

To coincide with the release of the Kill Team: Hivestorm this weekend Games Workshop is dropping the rules for both of these Kill Teams for use in Warhammer 40,000. So if you’re a fan of those free-falling Tempestus Aquilons or the newly updated and up-gunned Vespid Stingwings you’re in luck!

Tempestus Aquilons

via Warhammer Community

“The Tempestus Aquilons are the best of the best when it comes to accurate grav-drops into enemy-held territory via the Precision Drop skill. The ability to land within 3” of an enemy unit is invaluable for capturing far-flung objectives, or for sneaking into an area that would otherwise be screened by loosely arranged enemies.”

The Tempestus Aquilon unit drops in at 90 points for 10 models. They have the Deep Strike ability with some tweaks. They can also drop in with the Servo-sentry for some free shots, too.

They do put out a decent amount of firepower with all those various options and can do it behind enemy lines. If you’re looking to add drop troops to your Astra Militarum units this is a great option for just that.

Vespid Stingwings

“The Vespid Stingwings update their datasheet found in Codex: T’au Empire with a new maximum squad size of 10 models, and a host of new options. You can now add a T’au flamer, a neutron grenade launcher, and a neutron rail rifle to the mix, further augmenting their lethal close-range firepower.”

The Vespid Stingwings have two options when it comes to unit size. You can bring 5 models for 65 points or 10 models for 130 points. I can see benefits for either option. Their basic Neutron Blasters are still “marine killers” and with their unit speed and range they should be able to close the gap and unleash a deadly volley of fire into their targets. It’s going to be very tempting to use those other weapon options, too. I’m a little surprised there wasn’t some other rule for their weapons related to if they moved that was based on the Kill Team rules. But that might of added some unnecessary complexity to the unit.

Both of these rules will be added to the Warhammer 40,00 App but you can grab them now for free.

Do you think the Vespids will be able to earn a spot in the T’au army?
