Warhammer 40K: Points Update Out Now – New Munitorum Field Manual
Games Workshop has released a points update to Warhammer 40,000. Grab the new Munitorum Field Manual and check your army lists!
Get ready to tweak your lists as there’s a new points update as well as FAQ out now. You can download the points here for free. There’s also new FAQs for basically everyone which you can find here. Just click on the army you want to read-up on.
For this balance update, the focus is on continued external and internal balance adjustments through points adjustments. Overperforming units from the Adepta Sororitas, Thousand Sons, Drukhari, and Space Wolves (particularly Thunderwolves) are receiving points adjustments to help bring them in line.
Orks and Genestealer Cults have been struggling a little since the release of the Chapter Approved: Pariah Nexus Mission Pack, so we have also made a few adjustments there to give them more options.
For the rest of the armies out there GW really just wanted to adjust the internal balance. The idea was to help diversify the field of units that people could use and help add some variety in the army lists.
As far as the FAQ and Errata, you’re going to want to double check your respective army as each one got some attention. For the core rules FAQ/Errata the big overall changes involve Surge moves. There were a lot of variations of the same rule with different limitations. GW has gone back and standardized them.
Balance Dataslate?
Some of you eagle-eyed readers might have noticed there’s no Balance Dataslate this time around. That’s intentional from Games Workshop this “Balance Update” was just focused on points and FAQ/Errata. But don’t fret — a Balance Dataslate is coming. GW has already set their sights on a few “problem” areas as well.
Our next update later this year will bring a Balance Dataslate alongside an updated Munitorum Field Manual, as well as any further additions that may be needed to the FAQ and Errata. We are already well underway with testing the upcoming updates, making changes that are designed to tackle some key areas we want to address. Specifically, we’re looking at Miracle Dice usage and generation, Cult Ambush mechanics, and making a better experience for Codex: Space Marines players, to name just a few. There are lots of exciting adjustments planned, and we are excited to share these with you soon!
Changes to Miracle Dice, Cult Ambush, and a way to make Codex: Space Marines a better experience for players? Color me intrigued. We’ll have to wait and see what’s going to happen with those changes but they are coming before the end of the year.
For now, check your points and your army’s FAQ to find out what sort of tweaks you need to make for your list!
Looks like the Sanguinary Guard got a points drop. Isn’t that convenient…
