Warhammer 40K: What We Want To See This Warhammer Day

On Saturday, Games Workshop is going to be hosting Warhammer Day 2024 and is promising reveals. Here’s what we hope to see for 40k!

This year for Warhammer Day, Games Workshop is promising some big news for chaos. While I’ve got a rough idea of what that means for AoS I’m not sure what’s going to happen for 40k. Things have been relatively quiet on that front, with the exception of Kill Team news. Oh and a little game called Space Marine 2 which has been a big hit. So what do we hope GW shows off for Warhammer 40,000? Let’s get into it!

Space Marine 3

I’m kidding of course. Space Marine 2 just launched so 1) GW isn’t going to announce a Space Marine 3 (and besides, they didn’t technically make SM2, Saber Interactive was the Developer).  And 2) There’s a TON of stuff planned for Space Marine 2 as is. There’s a road map and everything.

I’m not really sure why we’re getting a Chaos Space Marine Cosmetic Pack with the Dark Angels but oh well. Maybe the Loyalists will get some Alpha Legion goodies later. But in all seriousness, I know Live Service Games have been having a bad time lately but this roll-out feels a lot better. I’m looking forward to playing it more and even revisiting it in the following seasons. I did end up getting it with the Season Pass because I wanted to support THIS style of “Battle Pass” system and not the terrible ones from other companies.

So yeah, some more details about Space Marine 2 would be awesome.

Astra Militarum – Death Korps

Games Workshop said during their previous Preview shows that the Death Korps of Krieg are basically next up for the Astra Militarum in terms of updates. We’re supposed to get a new AM book in 2025 and I’m hoping we see some news about them in the preview. I’m curious to see what sorts of things they get to make them different from the “regular” AM forces. Their Kill Team is still a great set of miniatures so I’m hopeful that GW can deliver. What exactly will they deliver? I don’t know but I’m eager to find out!

New Aspect Warriors

I already wrote about this recently so I won’t hammer this point home again. But with the Aeldari on the way, can we please get some new Aspect Warriors (and maybe a new Phoenix Lord, too)?!

Big Names and Special Chaos Treats?

What does it mean!? Who are these Big Names and what are these Special Chaos Treats? Maybe we’ll get a teaser or two from the reveals. Is it finally going to be time to bust out my Black Legion lead by Abaddon again?! Are we about to get a 40k Fulgrim and the refresh of the Emperor’s Children?! Are the Skaven about to tunnel there way into the Grimdark?!!?I need to know GW…I need to know!

New Kill Team Starter Set?

Kill Team Hivestorm just came out for pre-order and it’s actually a pretty good deal — if you want all the stuff inside. But this is kind of the launch box for Kill Team’s new edition. It’s labeled on the GW website as “Available While Stocks Last” as you can see from the screenshot:

Now, I’m not 100% sure if that’s referring to the “exclusive Wound Counters” or not. But I feel like this is in reference to it being the Launch Box. Anyhow, if this is the new Starter Set that’s fine and I’m kind of glad it’s sticking around. But if it’s not and it’s really a limited thing, I’d like to know what the actual Starter Set is? Maybe we’ll see that revealed on Saturday along with whatever Kill Teams are included with that.

A New/Better Road Map…

I mean, c’mon. We were all thinking it and hoping for a better road map, right? We don’t need half the space dedicated to a recap of the last year. We want to see what GW has planned for the future, preferably with some rough dates, let’s call them quarters, outlined. It would be nice…
