Games Workshop has released a new Roadmap for the next year of the new edition of Warhammer: Underworlds. Things are looking good.

It sure seems like Games Workshop has a solid plan for the next year of Warhammer: Underworlds. There’s a new roadmap and while it’s not exactly spelled out with dates, it’s at least something to go off of. Let’s take a look!

“That’s two new warbands and two new Rivals decks to join the contents of Embergard just weeks after launch, and then additional warbands and decks released at regular junctures throughout 2025. “

Warhammer Underworlds Roadmap

In the short term, things are a bit more clear as to what’s coming. After the core set Embergard, GW is planning on bringing back 16 current warbands as re-releases. Interestingly, they are going to come in the form of a new set of four boxes — one for each Grand Alliance:

Now, if you’re a veteran player and you already have your warbands ready to go and just need the cards, well, good news: GW thought of that, too. There will also be a box that has updated cards for all these warbands as a single product.

It’s worth noting that this box is “only be available while stocks last.” I’m a little disappointed with that part. So if you already have the minis, you might want to snag these deck boxes fast.

So around the launch of the new edition, you’ll be getting two more brand new warbands as well as two more new Rivals decks. That means we should have a total of 20 warbands and six decks available very soon. Now, what about the other warbands?

“Every other existing warband will be granted digital fighter cards and warband warscrolls available for free download. Organised Play events will have a tighter pool of warbands and decks in rotation to ensure all participants have access to the same warbands and cards – we’ll have an article on what this looks like later in the week – but every warband so far released for the game will be playable with any deck in the edition from the start. Many of these older warbands will also be rereleased with their new cards and rules in due course.”

Well that’s something for the warbands that might not of gotten a reboxing. So if you do have one of the warbands that didn’t make the initial cut don’t go tossing out those miniatures just yet.

Warhammer Underworlds In 2025

Looking ahead to next year things get a little more fuzzy. From the roadmap above we can see that there looks like a regular cadence of a new warband and a new Rivals deck. We don’t have any teasers as to what those could be however. Additionally, these are just under the blanket date of 2025. It’s not clear if those are going to be quarterly releases or what. There’s also the “plus more to come” on the top right, too.

On the plus side at least we know that GW is planning to do more with Warhammer Underworlds. From the sound of things the Organized Play side of things will also be getting a fair share of support, too. We’re just going to have to wait and see what GW brings in 2025 for Warhammer Underworlds.

That’s not the worst roadmap GW has made…
