‘Avatar: The Last Airbender – Aang’s Destiny’: A Legacy Game to Restore Balance
In Aang’s Destiny, you’re not just playing a legacy game. Because it’s not just Aang’s legacy to defeat the fire lord, it’s his destiny!
There’s been rumbling and rumors about the new Avatar series coming out next year, that will feature the earth bender avatar. Also, the Netflix series is reportedly getting a season 2 soon. But while I bide my time waiting for more Avatar content, I’m more than happy too play through the latest deck building card game from The Op, Avatar: The Last Airbender – Aang’s Destiny.
Aang’s Destiny Overview
Aang’s Destiny is a cooperative deck building game. Players are working together in a legacy-style campaign. Throughout each game, players will need to defeat a deck of villains and complete various objectives before the fire nation ship catches up to them. Or at least, that’s how Box 1 works.
Each player will control one member of the Gaang. And as with most deck builders, players will start the game with a fairly paltry deck. They’ll need to use the cards they have to gain newer and stronger cards, in order to complete the objectives and deal enough damage to the villains before the Fire Nation ship catches up to them.
The basic cards can provide players with Purpose, Healing or Attack. Purpose is used to gain newer cards, Healing restores health to the heroes, and Attack is used to deal damage to the villains. But each of these resources are also used to complete objectives. So it’s up the the players to determine how best to use each resource.
As players complete each game of Aang’s Destiny, they will unlock a new Box. Each box contains new bonus cards for the characters, as well as the next stack of villains and objectives. Meaning, as the characters progress through the story, not only are the villains getting stronger, and the objectives tougher, they are also gaining new skills and bending techniques to stand against the Fire Lord!
