D&D: Roll20 Announces the Build a Bastion Contest – Design Your Digs, Then Win Big…s
Roll20 threw down the gauntlet to would-be dungeon designers today, announcing the “Build a Bastion” contest for the new DMG.
One of the cool new features of the new edition Dungeon Master’s Guide is the Bastion System. This lets players design their own Malibu Dream House out of carefully curated sections of five-foot squares. Now with the Build a Bastion contest, Roll20 wants to see your skill.
Do you fancy yourself a master mapmaker? A deific dungeon designer? A good guildhall…guy? Well now’s your chance to show off and win big. Roll20’s Build a Bastion contest invites you to use Dungeon Scrawl (a recent acquisition by the venerable vtt platform) to win a “Roll20 Prize Package”.

At the heart of this new contest, Roll20 is showing off both the new Bastion System in the 5.5E DMG, as well as the ease with which you can do up dungeons with Dungeon Scrawl. Roll 20 acquired The popular map-mmaking program last fall.
At Roll20Cn this past September, we got a look at the “first phase” of Dungeon Scrawl’s Roll20 integration. Being able to Dungeon Scrawl in real time is going to be a hoot. But before then, you can still make and export maps.
In the Build a Bastion contest, DMs and Players alike are challenged to design their own Bastion floor plan. And entries will be judged “based on the originality and quality of the map.” So you might want to take some time to dream up a fantastic floorplan.
You’ll need to familiarize yourself with Dungeon Scrawl as well. But once you’ve got your design, you can enter by either filling out the Google form, linked below, or submitting to the Roll20 Discord. For full terms and conditions of the contest, click here.
