Halo: Flashpoint is going to have multiple game modes available at launch. Today we’re getting a preview of a classic game of Oddball!

Mantic Games is gearing up to ship out Mantic: Flashpoint. What’s impressive is the game has FIVE modes at launch. If you’re a fan of Halo you’ll probably recognize these game types.

You can probably extrapolate out what these modes will be. But how about seeing one of them in action?

“Today we’re going to be taking a look at how the game brings Halo Oddball gameplay to life in this highly competitive mode. You’ll need to keep hold of the ‘ball’, scoring at the end of each enemy model activation, and even picking up bonus points for taking them out with the Oddball!”

Oddball In Halo: Flashpoint

The basics of a game of Oddball are pretty simple: Hold on to the ball to score VPs. The player who scores 11 points first wins. But it’s that whole “hold on to the ball” part that’s tricky! The noteworthy part here is that players can rack-up VPs pretty fast as every time the player without the ball ends an activation with one of their units, the player WITH the Oddball scores a VP. So you really have to go for it when the enemy has the ball.

This can lead to some really fast-paced games as the both players are going after that all important Oddball. And again, this is mode that’s supported right out of the box!

“Everything you need to enjoy Halo Oddball gameplay on tabletop (and 4 other game modes) comes in both the Recon and Spartan editions of Halo: Flashpoint. The Spartan Edition even includes a collection of cool plastic arena accessories to upgrade the game’s cardboard tokens, and really bring these extra modes to life – flags for Capture The Flag and much more!”

I’m looking forward to trying this mode out as well as the four others. It’s going to be Halo: Flashpoint season very soon.
