Horus Heresy: Legions Imperialis Free Cybernetica Rules Download
It’s time to add some Legio Cybernetica cohorts to your existing armies with these free rules for Legions Imperialis.
Games Workshop has released free rules for the Legio Cybernetica cohorts that you can add as support formations. The rules to add them are very straightforward. For every regular Formation from a core list, you can choose to add one Support Formation. Here’s the rules direct from GW:
You can download the full rules here – Bonded Cybernetica Support Formations
There are seven Formations: one each for the Legiones Astartes, Solar Auxilia, Mechanicum Taghmata, Dark Mechanicum and Collegia Titanica, and two for the Knight Households. Alongside special rules and Detachment lists, each also has a Designer’s Note giving you ideas on how you might want to convert or paint your miniatures.

Since you can download and read all the rules yourself from the link above we won’t go over everything. However, there are some cool things to call out in the download. Each detachment follows a similar structure.
You’ve got the name of the Support Detachment and a bit of background on them. This follows up with the Compulsory Detachments you have to take. And then you’ve got a list of Optional Detachments as well. There are additional rules, too.
This section just covers any other restrictions or additional rules. There’s also notes about how the army special rules work (or rather don’t work) with regards to these Support Formations, too. Be sure to read this section carefully as each Support Formation is slightly different.
Finally, there’s also the Designer’s Notes for each formation. I really like these because they have painting suggestions and also modeling tips, too. The WarCom article also has a few art plates to check out for a handful of the Support Formations, too.
“Brethren of Iron detachments provide a great chance to paint your automata in Legion heraldry. It is appropriate that the automata feature at least some parts painted in their parent Legion’s dominant colour, such as the shoulder pads shown in the example below. Perhaps especially long-serving maniples might feature automata entirely bedecked in the colours of their associated legion, wearing the signs of their allegiance for all to witness.”
In this example we see a battle-automata painted with the Thousand Sons Legion colors on the shoulders. This is a really cool chance to add a few to your own Astartes Legion. And there’s more opportunities for the Collegia Titanica, Knight Households, Dark Mechanicum, and Solar Auxilia. There’s also an Itinerant Cybernetica Cohort that lets you basically make up your own style!
If you’ve been wanting to add some battle-automata to your armies in Legions Imperialis now’s your chance!
Send in the Astartes and Cybernetica!
