Catalyst Game Labs unleashes a blast from the past with a reprint of the original Shadowrun 1st Edition as a 35 Anniversary Reprint.

A Shadowrun 1st edition reprint is about as late 80s-early 90s as it gets. It’s a game about elves and dragons and orcs mixing it up in a future dominated by the looming uncertainty of ever-encroaching technology. In other words, it’s a Millennial’s dream. A Gen-Xer’s nightmare. And the reality that everyone from Gen Z on will have to grow up with. Unless things change drastically.

At any rate, the original Shadowrun made huge waves by blending fantasy and Cyberpunk. Magic and machineguns. Technology and totems. A return to nature in a world riven by technology and corporate greed. It’s pretty cool.

Soon, Catalyst Game Labs, the current license holders, will release a Shadowrun 1st Edition reprint for the game’s 35th anniversary. So grab a cyberdeck, check your smartlink, and make sure that you have a good mage. It’s time to do a Shadowrun.

Shadowrun 1st Edition Reprint – Coming December 11th

Right now the only place you can grab the Shadowrun 1st Edition Reprint is through Catalyst Game Labs’ online store. But if that thought bums you out, don’t worry. In way less time than you’d think, December 11th will be here. Which ought to be illegal. Next week shouldn’t be Thanksgiving, it hould be October 21st AT BEST.

But time marches on, whether we like it or not. However you can thumb your nose at the march of time and look back at a past that dreamt of a dystopian future much more exciting than the one we’re living in today.

“In the world of 2050, the megaplexes are monsters casting long shadows. As shadowrunners, that’s where you live, in the cracks between the giant corporate structures. When the megacorps want something done but they don’t want to dirty their hands, it’s a Shadowrun they need, and they come to you. Though your existence is not acknowledged by any governmental or corporate database, the demand for your services is high. You might be a Technomancer, sliding like a whisper through the databases of giant corporations, spiriting away the only thing of real value—information. Or perhaps you are a Street Samurai, an enforcer for hire whose combat skills and reflexes make you the ultimate urban predator. Or perhaps a Mage, one with an ancient gift, the ability to wield and shape the magical energies that now surround the Earth. And that’s exactly the kind of firepower you’ll need if you get hired to make a Shadowrun…”

Look for Shadowrun on December 11th at your FLGS!
