Next month, Modiphius will open hailing frequencies on a new 2nd Edition Star Trek Adventures Starter Set. Inside the box is everything you’ll need to start playing the game. Here’s what we know so far.
Star Trek 2nd Edition Starter Set – Coming December 2024
The new Starter Set for Star trek Adventures 2nd Edition will have everything you need to start playing the game. As the name implies, it’s a beginner’s guide to the entirety of the Star Trek series’ RPG.
You’ll get the old familiar standby of RPG starter sets everywhere:
- A condensed version of the core rules
- A “short” campaign (though this one is 60 pages and includes a sandbox-style ruleset, so you can do that too, which is great)
- Sheets, Dice, and Tokens are enough to impress your whole gaming group
I particularly like that the included campaign comes with rules to start exploring the Galaxy “straight out of the box.” One of the big strengths of the Star Trek RPG lies in its ability to capture the feeling of exploration. The galaxy is open wide and it’s something you don’t get from other RPGs, necessarily.
If you’re unfamiliar with Star Trek, the RPG covers basically every era of Star Trek. From the original series before to Voyager and beyond. You’ll find sourcebooks for pretty much every show, though the new 2nd Edition of the rules may tweak some things.
The Starter Set is expected t ship in December 2024, making it a fun holiday gift for the GM in your group, or for anyone looking to start playing a new system.
