Necromunda: The ‘Narker & Cadaver Merchant Come To The Underhive
There’s a pair of new Hangers-on coming to help your gangs out in Necromunda. Meet the ‘Narker and Cadaver Merchant.
Necromunda is a dark setting in an already Grimdark world. These two new Hangers-on only add to that air of “questionable” underpinnings in the Underhive. That said, if you can afford to hire them they each have some unique benefits for long-term play.
“Discount the Fixer and Proxy, and gangs can no longer communicate with uphivers. Likewise, those who need hot gossip or a cold corpse call on the ’Narker and Cadaver Merchant.
These Hangers-on don’t just add to the texture of Necromunda with their appearance, they also provide unique services, for a price.”
The ‘Narker
Starting things off we have the ‘Narker. This Hanger-on has a helpful ability to gather information. While she might not be as creepy about it as a Delaque gang, her methods are quite effective. Those methods typically involve just getting folks drunk at the bar and letting them spill the beans. But that can have an impact on your tabletop experience!
“For just 30 Credits they can modify the Determine Scenario step of the pre-battle sequence by one – but be aware that opposing ’Narkers cancel each other out – and presumably clear out liquor stocks in the process. “
That might not seem like much for 30 credits. However, it could mean the difference between walking into an Ambush or not. I think if you’ve got the credits to spare it’s not a terrible investment.
Cadaver Merchant
Look, anytime an Ogryn shows up with a chain-axe and a butchers apron you should at least be on your guard. The Cadaver Merchant should raise those cackles. Not only is he an intimidating presence, when a ganger dies, he can also help cover his cost of “employment.” He only costs 20 credits to hire. And uh…well, check out this questionable rule:
“Should a ganger die, the body can be sold for D3x10 credits. What does a Cadaver Merchant do with these bodies? We don’t really know, but he has connections, and just by having one a gang can gain an additional portion of Meat in the post-battle sequence of an Uprising Campaign… “
I’m pretty sure we all know exactly what he’s doing with that body. And yeah, I’m not thrill about that prospect either. Then again, he is useful as a form of income…
I also wanted to talk about the art vs miniature here for just a moment. The art is giving me way more “creepy clown vibes” with the little tuffs of hair on the side and busy eyebrows. He’s also way less jacked than the miniature is. I do wonder if the miniature sculptor was given some feed back along the way to make him less “serial killer” and more “Ogryn with a job to do.”
Would you want either of these Hangers-on in your Gang?
