Trench Crusade Kickstarter Breaks $1.7m And Continues To Grow
Trench Crusade is a newly Kickstarter skirmish wargame and it’s shaking things up with their own bit of alternative WWI heresy!
As of writing this article Trench Crusade has 7 days left on their Kickstarter campaign and they’ve crushed $1.7m raised so far. That’s well over their goal and the campaign is continuing to grow. But what is Trench Crusade? Let’s find out.
Trench Crusade Kickstarter
At it’s core Trench Crusade is an alternate history WWI skirmish game. But not just alternate history. Things have taken a much more occult turn for the blasphemous. And that’s not my words:
via Trench Crusade Kickstarter
Trench Crusade is a tabletop wargame set in a blasphemously alternate WW1 era created by artist Mike Franchina (Diablo 2r/3/4, Path of Exile 2, Magic: The Gathering) with rules by acclaimed game designer Tuomas Pirinen (Mordheim, Warhammer 6th edition) and brought to life by James Sherriff (28 mag, Ian Miller’s Grim Tarock) and some of the greatest creative talents in wargaming.
The team that has assembled to bring this game to life certainly has some street cred when it comes to tabletop games. They also have a breakdown of the game system itself. It uses a fairly straightforward 2D6 system for actions. a 2-6 roll is a failure while a 7-11 is a success with a 12 being critical success. There are also ways to manipulate the dice within the core rules. If you’re interested in learning more you can read about that in their Kickstarter under “The Game” section.
The Miniatures of Trench Crusade
This being a skirmish game there are of course miniatures up for grabs! So far there are 6 factions in Trench Crusade. Each of them have their own unique backstory which you can read about in the campaign. However, we’re going to cut to the chase: The Miniatures.
Trench Pilgrims
Heretic Legion
New Antioch
Court of the Seven Headed Serpent
The Sultanate of the Iron Wall
The Black Grail
There is certainly a vibe they are going for and I can get behind that! As far as production of these miniatures they are looking to make them in ABS-like resin using 3D printing. They are also offering these same miniatures as STLs as a digital option for folks to print for themselves.
Pledges and Estimated Release
There’s quite a few pledge levels that range from $5 all the way up to $888 for ALL the goods. If you’re interested in backing this one be sure you know exactly what you’re pledging. The estimate delivery date also depends on the pledge level with a target of June or July 2025.
There’s also a TON of cool add-ons like weapon upgrades, accessories, dice, and even Trench Crusade terrain sets, too. This is honestly a really impressive set of products for a Kickstarter campaign. On top of all that there Stretch Goals are also really impressive as well. They’ve got stories lined up from Graham McNeil and Gavin Thorpe. Plus they have a Dramatis Personae from Andy Chambers, too!
Oh and that’s not counting all the wonderful artists they have that will provide illustrations for their setting as well.
The campaign is set to last a total of two weeks and today kicks off the last 7 days of the campaign. It’s clearly crushed it’s funding goals and things are looking very promising. So if this is your cup of tea be sure to get in while you can. I’m expecting to see a whole lot more from Trench Crusade in 2025…
Will you be joining the Trench Crusade?
