Warhammer 40K: The Top Unit To Buy For Each Imperial Army
Goatboy here with the single best Warhammer 40K unit to pick up in 10th Edition, for each Imperial army you might play.
Goatboy here with the single best units for each non-marine Imperial armies you can get right now. They range from Characters, to amazing units, and just powerful vehicles. These are the things you want to have in your army if you can take them in that army. It could show up as an ally or just the backbone for your soul crushing unit of plastic nonsense. We already did the Space Marines, so these are all the other Imperial armies.
6. Custodian Wardens – Adeptus Custodes
If you are planning on playing Adeptus Custodes – you will want a few of these units. In fact – it is one of the best units just to let you create Shield Captains as well as the much needed Warden kit. Here is a powerful unit that does everything you want a Custodes unit to do. They are extremely tough and hard to deal with a once per game 4+ FNP as well as being very good with their damage output due to having a lot of attacks. They are just a very powerful unit that is an anvil for any Custodes army you see on the table top.
5. Canis Rex – Imperial Knights
Look if you want to play an Imperial Knight in your army it will most likely be Canis Rex. This is one of the best Knight models in the game right now. It can do a ton of damage, hits extremely hard, and is just a pain in the butt to remove. It even has a failsafe little dude that can pop out and help you hold an objective when you need too. I have seen this ally show up in some many Imperial Agents armies as it is one of the few options they can have to wreck other heavy armored things.
4. Skorpius Disintegrator – Adeptus Mechanicus
It is amazing how you could lower the price on a tough little Ad-Mech tank and it instantly gets good. Oh and it happens to have a no LOS shooting attack as well. The Ad Mech army is all about board control and having something that can shoot you all the time is a powerful thing in an army like this. I’ve been shot by Skorpius Disintegrator’s too many times to count (thanks David) and it is always a pain in the butt to deal with and remove. Oh and it also can randomly gain you CP as you spend Stratagems that target this tank. All of this on a tough little shell that sports a 2+ armor save that loves to sit in the back.
3. Castigator – Adeptas Sororitas
One of the mean tank combos for the Sisters of Battle – the Castigator can do a ton of damage when needed. It is also on top of having a pretty tough platform so it becomes a problem for so many things to deal with. Having flat damage 3 is rough for a lot of armies as the elite options sit in the 3 wound layer of the game right now.
2. Rogal Dorn Heavy Tank – Astra Militarum
The tank that everyone loves to flip over and show its “exposed” business too – is one of the main things keeping the AM armies afloat right now. It is so tough, so damaging, and just too dang cheap right now. It is a 240 Imperial Knight if you want to look at its toughness and shooting profile. Just being able to change an attacks damage characteristic to 0 when it gets hit once a game is just huge when you are dealing with an 18 wound and 2+ save murder vehicle.
1. Callidus Assassin – Imperial Agents
At an event I went to this past weekend a buddy got almost 30 points in a game just from one Callidus Assassin. The ability to go up and down is amazing. The ability to do damage to a character hiding in the backfield is awesome. Oh and you got someone that can easily do a ton of the mission objectives whenever you need them too. I still don’t know why this model isn’t more expensive for the Imperial Agents side of things but hey – I would go get one if you don’t have one already.
There are a ton other options for Imperial armies in the game but these are the ones you see all the time. If you are looking at playing these armies you should make sure you got one of these ready to go as it will be of use to you.
If you don’t have one of these yet – make sure to write it on your Xmas wish list.
