Warhammer: ‘James Workshop’ Christmas Message Gets A Little Unhinged
Oh man…this is one of those marketing videos you just kind of need to see to believe from Games Workshop.
Is this a Christmas message from James Workshop or a chronicle of one man’s slow descent into madness? Why not both? Yeah…it’s probably both.
“I made a ME!” Indeed…
Our illustrious CEO might have been a bit sad to watch da Red Gobbo ruin all of his hard work, but his loss is your gain – and with the A-bomb-inable Snowman going up for pre-order tomorrow, you can have your very own mischievous grot in hand soon.
The Red Gobbo Strikes…
This is either clever marketing or an unhinged reminder that the Red Gobbo’s commemorative miniature is up for pre-order this weekend. I have to give GW credit for this “James Workshop” video though, it’s creative and far from boring! Although there are some implications…
On the surface level, the gag is that the Red Gobbo has infiltrated and brainwashed James Workshop into making a new miniature of the Red Gobbo. But on a deeper level, what if James IS the Red Gobbo. What a twist that would be! Eh, then again, I wouldn’t read too much into this one folks. Taking it at face value is probably for the best and it’s a good gag. I’m okay with this light-hearted take on James going slowly insane.
One day I do hope to meet “James Workshop” as I have questions. I do wonder how much they script out these videos and how much of it is just him “being James Workshop.” The potato thing was pretty funny.
Anyhow, if you want to snag a copy of the commemorative Red Gobbo miniature that’s up for pre-order this weekend along with a few other things. I’m actually really interested in the White Dwarf 506 due to the new rules coming.
