Warhammer Next Week: A Christmas Battleforce Box Bonanaza
Nothing says Christmas like the annual reveal of this year’s Warhammer Battleforce Boxes. Here they are.
Christmas is coming. The inevitable march of time brings us ever closer to the dark of winter and the turning of the year. It also brings us closer to the advent (pun intended) of the Warhammer Battleforce Boxes.
And they’re rolling out as part of next week’s preorders. There’s something for everyone, whether you love 40K or Age of Sigmar, you’ll find a box! Let’s take a look.
Warhammer 40K Christmas Battleforce Boxes
First up, a new “seasonal Commemorative Series miniature” aka a Holiday Diorama Miniature. This one is titled Provisionally Prepared, and features two Ratling snipers who are about to settle in for a holiday feast. Look at the sausage, probably made with genuine pork.
Then we get into the boxes themselves. First up, the Adepta Sororitas Penitent Crusade Host battleforce box. In it you’ll find: a Ministorum Priest, two Penitent Engines/Mortifiers, nine Sisters Repentia and a Repentia Superior, ten Arco-Flagellants, and two Adepeta Sororitas Rhinos.
The Emperor will doubtless forgive any who field this force.
The Imperial Knight Valourstrike Lance battleforce box has everything you need for your Imperial Knight dreams. You get a Knight Paladin/Knight Errant as well as four Armiger Helverins with Armiger autocannons, but they can also be built we Armiger Warglaives with thermal spears and reaper chain-cleavers.
The Necron Hypercrypt Legion battleforce box is enough to reclaim a small Tombworld. Inside there’s a C’tan Shard of the Void Dragon as well as an Overlord with Translocation Shroud, 10 Triarch Praetorians/Lychguard, and 10 Necron Warriors accompanied by three Canoptek Scarab Swarms.
Inside the T’au Empire Retaliation Cadre battleforce box await a host of battlesuits. And drones accompanying them. There’s the Commander (and drone), a Riptide Battlesuit (and two drones), a Ghostkeel Battlesuit and (two drones), and a Broadside Battlesuit (and yes, two drones).
That’s enough firepower for a whole other sphere of expansion.
Lion El’Johnson himself leads the Dark Angels Inner Circle battlefirce box. Alongside the long-slumbering Primarch, you’ll find a Chaplain in Terminator armour, six Inner Circle Companions, and ten Deathwing Knights accompanied by two loyal Watchers in the Dark.
Enough to track down the Fallen wheresoever they may be.
Age of Sigmar Battleforce Boxes
Meanwhile, in the Mortal Realms, the battleforces are chomping at the bit, rarin’ to go. Like the Ironjawz Wrekamob battleforce box, which comes with Six Weirdbrute Wrekkaz/Brute Ragerz, 20 Ardboyz, and a rampaging Tuskboss on Maw-grunta, thin this can also be built as a Maw-grunta with Hakkin’ Krew or a Maw-Grunta Gouger.
The Flesh-Eater Courts, on the other hand, roll out the gruesome red carpet for the Charnelgrand Jury. At its head: Grand Justice Gormayne, as well as six Morbheg Knights, ten Cryptguard, and six Crypt Horrors/winged Crypt Flayers.
Or break out the big guns in the Cities of Sigmar Founding Foray. These forces of Sigmar are led by a Freeguild Marshal and their Relic Envoy and a Freeguild Command Corps. Also in the box are ten Freeguild Fusiliers, an Ironweld Great Cannon, and a Fusil-Major on Ogor Warhulk, accompanied by five Freeguild Cavaliers.
Finally the Maggotkin of Nurgle. The Shudderblight Cyst is led by a bepustuled Harbinger of Decay and consists of five Putrid Blightkings, ten Rotmire Creed, and four Pusgoyle Blightlords (one of each pair can be built as a Lord of Affliction).
All this, next week!
