Warhammer: The Old World – ‘Frydaal the Chainmaker’ Reveal
Chaos is getting a new Exalted Champion in The Old World to lead them to battle. Meet Frydaal The Chainmaker from the Sea of Claws!
The Armies of Chaos are going strong in Warhammer: The Old World. They already marching to war with the Chaos Warriors and Marauders of old. Now, they are getting a fierce new Exalted Champion with Frydaal The Chainmaker and her mighty flail!
Even before she took her first steps on the Path to Glory, Frydaal was a cruel warrior who delighted in letting injured survivors flee to nearby towns and villages, spreading her legend and sowing fear across the lands. She campaigned across the Shadowlands, accruing many confident victories with her warband, and earning profane gifts from the Dark Gods.
Her long campaign in the Realm of Chaos caused great horns to sprout from her skull*, and she eventually became so powerful that a single blow from her flail – named Storm’s Fury – could shatter bones and crumple armour.
Frydaal The Chainmaker
First up, I just want to say I’m a fan of this miniature! I like the pose and when I first saw it, I thought it was perfect for a Chaos Warriors army. I actually thought it was for Age of Sigmar but the square base and the classic Chaos Warrior armor fits perfectly with The Old World. Then again, that’s kind of the nice thing about the Chaos Warriors and S2D armies. Those miniatures kind of work for either army…
Storm’s Wrath really doesn’t pull any punches. With S+2 and AP -1 it’s already packing a wallop. If that wasn’t enough it also has an Extra D3 attacks that are Magical. While it does require two hands to use it seems like Frydaal has that covered with ease.
Frydaal also has the Peerless Raider rule. This allows one unit of either Chaos Marauders or Marauder Horsemen in the same list as Frydaal to have the Ambushers special rule for free. Also, if Frydaal is the General of your forces, you can also apply either a +1 or -1 result to the modifier when rolling to see if any unit of Chaos Marauders, Marauder Horsemen, Maraduder Tribe Huscarls, or Marauder Tribe Berserkers with the Ambushers special rule will arrive from reinforcements that turn.
With those types of bonuses to Marauder units specifically, Frydaal is a natural fit for the Wolves of the Sea Army of Infamy. Her rules and more can be found in the Warriors of Chaos Arcane journal. So if you want to load up on Marauders and terrorize the tabletop be sure to snag Frydaal the Chainmaker when she’s released in Forge World Resin!
Frydaal The Chainmaker is coming to raid The Old World from the Sea of Claws soon!
