Age of Sigmar: Grotmas Gift – Eight Free Regiments of Renown Available Now
Games Workshop wanted to spread some Grotmas Cheer to the Mortal Realms. Here’s eight Regiments of Renown to download right now!
I guess the Grotmas Advent Calendar was either too packed or the AoS folks were starting to feel a little left out in the cold. But fret not! The Grotmas Gifts are coming for all this year from Games Workshop.
They just released eight free Free Regiments of Renown which you can download right here.
“Regiments of Renown are a way to use units from one faction in another, and thanks to the assiduous envoys in the Design Studio, there are eight new ones with some intriguing alliance options available to download today.”
Grotmas Regiments of Renown
Flipping through the download we’ve got the following Regiments of Renown:
- Enforcers of the Tithe – Ossiarch Bonereapers
- Exile Scavangers – Kharadron Overlords
- Squires of the Everchosen – Flesh-Eater Courts
- The Lost-Song Spirits – Sylvaneth
- Nurgle’s Gift – Maggotkin of Nurgle
- Stumblefoot Gargant – Sons of Behemat
- Snerk’s Trogg-Fer-Hire – Gloomspite Gitz
- Goroan Scions – Slaves to Darkness
Here’s thing about these Regiments of Renown: They don’t work with who you might normally expect. For example That Ossiarch Bonereapers Regiment…yeah, check out these Inclusion rules:
If you’re doing a double take on those options, yeah, me too! And again, it’s not just these Bonereapers. It’s EVERY Regiment of Renown in this list. Want to take some Kharadron Overlords with your Slaves to Darkness? You can now!
Or how about some Sylvaneth with your more…undead aligned friends? The Lost-Song Spirits got you covered.
And yes, these are rather limited in terms of unit selections. But that’s probably for the best. We’re not crossing the streams entirely here — it’s really more of a slight sprinkle. That said, this could supply some really weird and fun army combos/modeling opportunities if you were so inclined.
Each Regiment of Renown also comes with their own unique Abilities too. The Squire of the Everchosen might be Flesh-Eater Courts Varghulfs as a unit, but rules wise? They certainly have a chaosy bend.
It makes sense for a Regiment that was all formerly Varanguard but got turned into Flesh-Eater Courts members. At least they can still interact with their “old friends” as it were.
I’ll be honest: this is weird. But I’m kind of here for it! If you dabble in multiple armies it’s worth taking a closer look at these Regiments of Renown. You might just have some overlapping units you can mix. And if you don’t these seem like a great excuse to start dabbling with these units.
The Regiments themselves might not be game breaking. Heck, they might not even do anything different for the armies you can include them in either. But I still think they could be a fun addition if you’ve got the ability to mix and match.
WarCom is going to be going into more detail for these Regiments of Renown later on. Additionally, all of these will be added to the Warhammer App on December 15th. For now, download them and check out their rules to see if any of them tickle your fancy.
