Gifts For That Person Who Loves Board Games (Like A LOT)
We’ve covered the people who don’t love games yet. So what about gifts for people who love board games a lot?
Last we talked about great games to throw into the gift swap full of people who aren’t into games yet. You know, the games with the low entry points that are easy to learn and get into. These aren’t those. These are the gifts you get for the person who might like games a little too much. The person who always suggested an especially complex board game the moment you get to their hours. That friend.
1. A Legacy Game
There are a lot of legacy games, and honestly any one of them would probably work. Unless the person you have in mind already has them all. I picked Ticked to Ride Legacy because Ticket to Ride is one of the most universally beloved games out there, but you know your buds, what are they into?
Legacy games are different from regular ones in that they are meant to spread out and played monthly over the course of a year. They’re more immersive, have a more expansive narrative that unfolds, and give you an excuse to get your friends together on a semi-regular basis to play board games.
2. Board Game Bag
Do you know someone with a lot of games, and no functional ability to pick just one of them to bring to game night? The host says bring one game each and they hear, “bring one shelf.” And honestly, that’s fine, who doesn’t like a few extra options?
This bag will allow them to bring a truly absurd number of board games with them on the go. And a water bottle, which will be important because this is a lot to lift. RIP to their back, but we’re universally impressed by their perseverance.
3. Board Game Storage Kit
How often do you open up your game box, and it’s an absolute mess in there? You know you put everything away right, but things get shaken and jostled around and now everything is everywhere. I’ve absolutely used the small-ziplock-bag game storage system to keep things tidy; and this is that, but better. Nobody likes a messy board game box. Let’s neaten our games up.
4. A Different Game Organizer
The same idea but a little less baggies and a little more modular wooden mini-shelving. The little wooden boxes also have engraving and design to help you keep things labeled and organized really beautifully. Sometimes you want to keep your games neat and tidy. And sometimes you want to keep them neat, tidy, and aesthetic.
5. Tabletop Card Holder
How many games do you play with a stack of three cards that you’re constantly drawing from? I can name at least a few. A wooden card stand will keep your stacks organized, neat, and not toppled over and mixed up. It’s such a simple little tool to add to your game table, but it does so much to keep the space from becoming anything less than perfectly in order.
