He-Man: The Only Castle With a Working Jawbridge and a Source Of Universal Power — Castle Grayskull
Castle Grayskull is home to some of the most potent forces in the known universe. But for all that power, its origins are mysterious.
Castle Grayskull is one of the single-most sought after fortresses in all of Eternia. With a font of ancient power, it is a beacon of light. It is also frequently assaulted by some of Eternia’s most powerful villains. Including Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, and Hordak.
But where did this fortress come from? And why is it so frequently assailed by the forces of evil on Eternia? In order to answer these questions, we need to delve into the very power at the heart of Grayskull.
By the Power of Grayskull – Ancient Might Over An Eternian Abyss
To start with, Castle Grayskull sits atop a vast abyss. Some say it is bottomless. Others maintain it goes all the way to the very heart of Eternia. Whatever the case, Castle Grayskull is surrounded on all sides by an impenetrable moat. The only way across it is via Grayskull’s signature Jawbridge.
But bridges made from lower jaws aside, Castle Grayskull is something of an oddity. After all, its abyss is located on a barren plain, not far from the Evergreen Forest. As far as Eternian locales go, it’s not the most strategic of fortresses. It isn’t on any major trade routes. It doesn’t sit on or near a border between kingdoms.
And yet, it sees more combat than almost anywhere else on Eternia. Why? The answer to that lies at the heart of Castle Grayskull. The infamous Power of Grayskull dwells within a secret chamber deep within the castle.
Some say the Power of Grayskull resides within a cosmic orb that contains the stored essence of the elders of Eternia. Others say it is in a massive crystal chamber. While still others, who have witnessed firsthand the transformation of Eternia’s Prince Adam into He-Man, say the power comes from deep within Eternia’s heart. When it comes to the fabulous secret powers of Grayskull, though, one has to ask, “what’s going on?”
Whatever the actual source, the power is unmistakeable. It transforms Prince Adam into He-Man, yes, but in addition to the prodigious combat abilities imparted, it does so much more. He-Man can level devastating storms against his foes. And can command the natural forces of Eternia like a demigod (at minimum). On top of all of that, the stones of Castle Grayskull are said to be made of the hardest material in the known universe.
Castle Grayskull – Evil Tries But Never Succeeds
In the elder days of Eternia, Castle Grayskull was said to be the home of King Grayskull. This ancient king was a benevolent ruler who wielded tremendous power. Power, though, acts as a beacon. And throughout Eternia, there are many who would claim it for their own ends.
Castle Grayskull is perhaps best known for repelling assaults by myriad foes throughout the years. It has withstood the full might of Skeletor and his legions, too many times to count. But it has also repelled invaders from within – though He-Man was temporarily indisposed, the Castle itself proved to be formidable, using illusions and other trickery to confound Evil-Lyn.
And it is one of the only places that has withstood an assault by Hordak and his Horde. As long as He-Man and the Masters of the Universe stand united, Castle Grayskull shall remain a powerful bastion for the forces of good.
By the power of Grayskull, now you, too, have the power!
