Henry Cavill, Amazon, Games Workshop Beat Deadline, Finalize Warhammer 40K Deal
Games Workshop has confirmed the Amazon deal is still on, and they have chosen where in the grimdark they’re starting their universe.
In 2023, the two companies and Henry Cavill announced they’d signed an agreement to produce 40k shows and movies. There have been a ton of rumors and a looming contract deadline, but no official word from GW, Amazon, or the actor about Warhammer 40K projects. Until now.
Games Workshop and Cavill announced they’re moving forward to the next stage in production: story and script development.
My incredible team and I, alongside the brilliant minds at Games Workshop, have been working away in concept rooms, breaking down approaches to the enormity and magnificence of the Warhammer world. Together, we’ve been sifting through the plethora of incredible characters and poring over old tomes and texts. Our combined efforts have led us to a fantastic place to start our Universe, which has been agreed upon by those up on high at both Amazon and Games Workshop. That starting place shall, for now, remain a secret. Watch this space, though—more to come in time!

This doesn’t mean that we’re going to see anything in the next year, but does solidify that things are happening.
… we now have synopsis and ordering for the stories we’re going to tell… yep, we said stories! It might have taken a year but it was a year well spent! And what fun – sifting through the enormity of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, debating characters, story arcs and the thematic grit that underpins it all.
So, what’s next? When will the first project hit screens? It’ll be some years. Project One* is about to go into development proper. So, next up is the script/s that will form the basis of everything else to come. Of course, as with all carefully crafted things, this all takes time… and trust us when we say, everyone involved is las-focused on getting it all just right.

What’s Next for GW, Amazon, and Warhammer 40K?
Both statements confirm big-picture stuff, but still don’t include a lot of details. There’s no hint as to what or who in the vast grimdark universe will be featured in the Amazon Warhammer 40k series or movies. GW has been making animated series for a while now on Warhammer+. Thi has been fantastic, so I’m hoping this deal will include live-action projects.
For years, there have been calls for a Gaunt’s Ghosts or Eisenhorn series. Since the announcement last year, I’ve seen requests for series that detail the life of the Emperor, the Horus Heresy, and stories about Custodes (Cavill’s favorite faction).
Let the speculation continue.
Secret Level Drops Today
Something to tide you over till the next announcement arrives: Secret Level, Amazon’s celebration of video games, is out today. The 40K episode is inspired by the most recent installment of the Space Marine video game series. It takes us to the 41st Millennium as we join Titus and a squad of Ultramarines as they take on some unidentified foes.
