This massive LEGO Helms Deep is built from thousands of pieces and includes pair of complete armies of minifigs ready for an epic siege.

Get ready for The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim with this amazing Helms Deep MOC. This ironic fortress acts as a refuge for the Eorlingas, and it’s famously featured (now) in several movies.

First built by the survivors of Numenor as a fortress, the Hornburg. During the second age, it was a major fortified work. The Hornburg and the rest of the Riddermark were given to Erol the Young when he became the first King of Rohan.

Later, it was famously used as a bastion of last resort by Helm Hammerhand, for which it was renamed Helm’s Deep. In the Third Age, it was the scene of the climatic battle between the Rohirrim and the forces of Isengard. It is a classic setting for the story, and several iconic scenes are set there.

Huge LEGO Helm’s Deep with Full Armies

Today, we are looking at a stunning LEGO Helm’s Deep diorama. Built by Rich-K and Big J, this MOC has over 150,000 pieces and over 1,700 minifigs depicting the battle. It’s absolutely huge, stretching several feet across. While it doesn’t include the massive mountains behind the Horn Burg and the walls, it does include the large rocky sides of the pass, giving it a good sense of size. What’s really impressive is the massive armies covering this MOC.

This build is based on the Peter Jackson movie version and looks fantastic. The massive, distinctive main keep of the Hornburg rises up. The curtain wall, unbroken for now, blocks the pass. The key details are there.

What really elevates it, and where this MOC really shines, is the big armies that dominate everything. Most obvious are the huge siege weapons and ladders that assault the walls. There is also just a huge, huge amount of minifigs here, the ranks of the Uruk Hai, the Elves manning the wall, and the desperately outnumbered Rohirrim on the Hornburg itself.

Here are a few of my favorite parts of the build and the battle!

The 5,471-piece build is split into four main sections; the tower section is fully modular. The dark tower features a throne room with a complement containing a map and a ladder to the top floor. The 4th floor is home to Mouth of Sauron’s study, while the 5th floor houses a tower library with a rotating ladder. At the summit of the tower is the Eye of Sauron, which rotates in various directions and features a light brick to make the eye glow.
