Marvel: Crisis Protocol – New Pre-Orders Out Now
Two new Character Packs are up for pre-order for Marvel: Crisis Protocol. It’s Yondu and Nova plus Elsa and Man-Thing!
Alright True Believers! It’s going to be a long January. Atomic Mass Games/Asmodee has just put up the pre-orders for the character packs for Yondu and Nova as well as Elsa Bloodstone and Man-Thing. The good news is we have official release dates. The bad news those dates are January 31, 2025. Oof. I guess it’s time to work on that whole “patience is a virtue” thing.
Elsa Bloodstone And Man-Thing
Marvel: Crisis Protocol – Elsa Bloodstone & Man-Thing $44.99
Man-Thing is a durable tank, who punishes enemies for damaging his allies. Elsa Bloodstone, in her legendary monster hunter fashion, has ranged attacks that deal with supernatural and natural threats. They both bring an exciting next chapter to Marvel: Crisis Protocol and show just how much more can be added to the game.
If you’re curious about either of these characters, you can read-up on Elsa and Man-Thing directly from Marvel. Elsa Bloodstone first appeared in 2001 with Bloodstone #1. However, she’s probably more well known from the Disney+ show Werewolf by Night. She’s a monster hunter with some really cool powers and I’m curious to see what MCP does with her.
Man-Thing has a much longer history in Marvel Comics. First introduced in 1971, Man-Thing has been around the block. More recently, he also appeared in Werewolf by Night, too. I’m not quite sure how to describe his powers…but he is super strong and durable. He can also secretes a powerful corrosive. Anyhow, both are coming to the game in January!
Yondu And Nova
Marvel: Crisis Protocol – Yondu & Nova $39.99
CP126 brings Yondu and Nova to the table in Marvel: Crisis Protocol! As MCP expands into the larger realms of comics, we see more exciting characters from Marvel brought to the tabletop.
Yondu brings a mix of his comics look at new found MCU fame, with his iconic mohawk and deadly bow & arrow. His game mechanics bring an underhanded pirate play style to the game, which will be new and fun for players. Nova is a hard hitting, medium zone character which will be a welcome addition to any player and collector.
Yondu kind of exploded in popularity with the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Now he’s coming to MCP with his bow and arrow in hand. It’s worth noting that this version of Yondu is a mix between the cinematic version and the comic book character. Personally, I’m just hoping we get so cool Guardians of the Galaxy synergies with him added.
Extra Nova Rant Incoming
Nova is also a “cosmic” hero…some of the time. It’s complicated “Because Comics!” Richard Rider was chosen to become a member of the Nova Corps way back in 1966! Well, technically, the character’s name was “Star” at the time but his creator, Marv Wolfman, updated him to Nova in 1976.
If you couldn’t tell by the alliteration in his name, he’s a bit of a homage to Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man. He started off as a teenage hero with humble beginnings and a potent alter-ego. Overtime, Rider became a team member of the New Warriors — a team/Affiliation I hope we see one day.
Later in his career Richard Rider really steps up his game. He becomes Nova Prime and actually helps lead the fight against the galactic threat of the Annihilation Wave. Unfortunately, the events of Marvel’s Civil War kind of overshadowed it. That said, it’s a great story line and totally worth a read!
If you can’t tell, I’m a bit of a Nova fan. I just hope this tabletop version does him justice. I like the miniature and I can’t wait to get him on the tabletop!
Which of these MCP characters are you most excited for?
