The Jump to Lightspeed card game set will launch with two Spotlight decks, each with 50 unique cards, as well as five Special-rarity cards that are unique to that product with one of the Special-rarity cards being a leader card. It provides exciting new opportunities to explore the unknown when paired with previously released Two-Player Starter the Twilight of the Republic, Shadows of the Galaxy and Spark of Rebellion card game sets. With this new collection’s heavy focus on space, this set introduces a brand-new keyword to the fray: Piloting. Players will be able to explore several Star Wars eras and locales, focusing on the galaxy’s most memorable space battles. As players go head-to-head, they’re met with new gameplay experiences like a “hyperspace” mechanic and “showcase” variant.
Jump to Lightspeed
Kicking things off, we know there will be two new Spotlight Decks and each of them will have 50 unique cards and five Special-rarity cards. This is a new product that’s essentially replacing the older Two-Player starter type products.
“Spotlight Decks are pre-built decks that contain a mixture of cards from multiple sets, with cards from the new set making up the majority of the deck. Each Spotlight Deck contains five Special-rarity cards that are unique to that product, one of which is the leader card. Two Spotlight Decks will release with every set, which means there are ten Special-rarity cards in total, the exact same number as there were in previous sets’ Two-Player Starters.”
These two decks will feature Han Solo and Boba Fett. They have different play-styles for sure and open up some new opportunities to deck build in Star Wars Unlimited.
Boba Fett really focuses on indirect damage which is a new mechanic that’s been introduced with this set. When his leader ability is trigged you can exhaust Boba Fett to deal 1 indirect damage to your opponent. This combos nicely with the other cards in his deck and the rest of the set.
For Han Solo really does feel more like he’s shooting from the hip. His card allows you to check the top card of your deck and then attack with a unit card. And if the revealed card has a different odd costs, then the attacking unit gets a nice combat boost.
Jump To Lightspeed is also introducing another new mechanic with the Pilot/Piloting keywords. This keyword allows you to pay an alternate cost to play a Pilot card attached to a vehicle. Typically, this offers a nice boost to the stats of the card the pilot is attached to.
More Star Wars Unlimited Ahead
With over 250 new cards in Jump To Lightspeed this looks to be a strong opening act for year two of Star Wars: Unlimited. With more characters and storylines coming to life on the tabletop it’s a great time to make the jump.
