Unlock Your Allomantic Powers in ‘Mistborn: The Deckbuilding Game’
Thanks to the perfectly captured theme and exciting strategic mechanics, fans of the Mistborn series are going to be very happy with Mistborn: The Deckbuilding Game.
Mistborn: The Deckbuilding Game combines the standard mechanics you’d expect from any deck building game. But it adds several additional mechanics that add a huge amount of strategy and theme to the game.
Mistborn: The Deckbuilding Game Overview
What sets Mistborn apart form other deckbuilders is most certainly the training track and metal system. As players progress through the game, they will improve their training. As their training improves, they will be able to burn more metals in order to play better and stronger cards.
Speaking on burning metals, each player has 8 metal tokens they can (and should) burn on their turn to help pay the costs of their most powerful cards. A player can only burn one metal a turn, but as their training improves, they will be able to burn more metal each turn. Plus, they might gain new cards and allies that let them burn more metal or use other fun abilities too.
That’s right! Players can gain allies. Along side the standard add-cards-to-your-deck style of play, players can also gain allies that remain in play until they are defeated by another player. Allies provide passive bonuses, defense from being attacked, and can trigger additional bonuses when their player burns metal.
As you might expect, players will (and should) be attacking each other. However, only the player with the target marker can be attacked. However, on any turn they are attacked, they may give the target marker to any other player. So players should be careful how mad they make the targeted player.
At the same time, players will be completing missions. As players move up the mission track by playing cards, they will gain additional bonuses at certain thresholds. But mission aren’t just for fancy bonuses.
In Mistborn, there are three ways to win: Complete all 3 missions, eliminate their opponents, or complete the Confrontation. The first player to do one of those three things wins the game!
