Warhammer 40K: One Grotmas Detachment The Aeldari Need

Didn’t the Aeldari and Druhkari already get their detachements for Grotmas? Yes. But here’s one more they really should get as well.

If you check out the Aeldari Index then you know the Ynnari are included as part of the Detachment rules. However, I think this is one detachment that needs to be expanded upon. Yes, that’s right, I’m asking for a Ynnari Detachment for the Aeldari/Drukhari.

I’ll let the Games Workshop Designers sort out all the details. However, I think there’s a few key things that a Ynnari specific detachment should include as part of their rules restrictions. If you need a hint, I’m naming this Ynnari Detachment “The Ynnari Triumvirate” because of these miniatures. The Visarch, The Yncarne, and Yvraine.

The Ynnari Triumvirate

Personally, I think you start there. As far as what the detachment rule would be, again, I’d leave that up to GW. As of now, the Ynnari still get access to the Strands of Fate Army Rule thanks to them being in the Index. But their current detachment rule is the Unparalleled Foresight which is an additional re-roll to hit and re-roll to wound.

So I’d want something on par with that. Then again, it’s not like GW doesn’t have a library of books to go back and pull ideas from. The Ynnari were kind of a big deal when they came out. They basically had an entire series of supplements about their arrival. It was a big event!

And it’s not like we don’t have the old Strength from Death rules to get inspired from either:

Just to be clear, I’m NOT asking for this exact rule to come back. It kind of caused some issues when it arrived on the scene. Plus the game has changed since this rule was created. But I do think the concept is cool. And I think if the Ynnari were to get their own detachment rule a Soulburst-like action could be a good place to start.

As far as Stratagems and enhancements? Take your pick. Above are the new ones from the Aeldari’s “new” detachment — but this is really just Mechdar for the current edition. I don’t think these would fit exactly with the Ynnari theme.

The Durkhari ones are a bit more inline with what I’d image the Ynnari would have. Obviously, you’d have to change the keywords around but something like these could work. But even these are designed to work with more of the theme of that particular mixed force of Drukhari and Harlequins.

So really it’s up in the air. Again, I’m sure the GW rules folks have something cooking. We’ll probably get at least one stratagem that allows them to shoot/charge after a fall back move. There’s one down. Five more to go!

Ynnari – The Other Aeldari Faction

Personally, I’d like to see an Aeldari army that doesn’t use the Strands of Fate dice mechanic. And we’ve seen how the Adepta Sororitas are having their Miracle Dice repurposed. If the Ynnari got a similar rule, I’d be okay with that change.

What if the Soulburst-like ability required you to spend a Fate dice to activate it? I think that would be a cool trade off. At least to start. Again, I’m just spitballing and these ideas would need to be fleshed-out and playtested. But hey, I’m looking for a Grotmas Miracle here. Maybe GW already thought of that and we’ll get a surprise Ynnari detachment in the next few days. It could happen!

Here’s hoping for a Grotmas Miracle! Would you want to see a Ynnari specific Grotmas detachment?
