Games Workshop Rumor Engine: ‘Trident Time’

It seems the Rumor Engine is about to go fishing. Or we’re about to have some sort of sea-themed miniature coming soon.

It’s got to be one or the other based on the current image. But that’s what we’re here to figure out on another Tuesday. The Rumor Engine is back and it’s time to see what’s on the way from Games Workshop.

The word ‘trident’ comes from the ancient Greek words ‘trid’ and ‘ent’. No one knows what they mean, but it’s probably something to do with the handle.

Rumor Engine – Trident Time

Yeah…I don’t know about that etymology from the Rumor Engine team for Trident there. Either way, that basically confirms this is indeed a Trident. Now, who’s wielding it?

I know the first thing I thought of was the Idoneth Deepkin. And while they certainly use some sea-themed weapons, I don’t know if the style of this weapon quite matches up.

They tend to have more curvy designs and their weapons have saw-like blades. This trident doesn’t quite fit.

There is another faction that does have a nautical theme…but with a twist. They are still pirates…just in the skies.

I could see this weapon fitting in more inline with the Kharadron Overlords. Those little nodes on the points remind me of the same ones on the Arkanaut Company’s weapons. Plus the handle has that same triangle-weld looking part, too:

I don’t know 100% if this is the case but I can’t unsee it now. If you’ve got another idea or theory share it with the rest of us in the comments. In the meantime, I’m going with a new Kharadron Overlord unit. I can’t wait to see what GW has cooked up. Plus we have a pretty good idea they are on the way!

What do you think? Is it Kharadon Overlords or something else entirely?
