Halo: Flashpoint – Spartan Edition Up Close
Halo: Flashpoint might be my most anticipated game for 2025. Good thing I snagged the Spartan Edition to get started.
So back in December I went to PAX Unplugged. I stopped by the Mantic Booth that was there and I picked up a copy of Halo: Flashpoint – Spartan Edition. I got pretty lucky! My version was a limited run with Master Chief included. However, I had to wait until now to really dive in. I wanted to give this game a fair shake and I knew that during the holidays it was going to be nigh impossible to do that.
Well here we are in January and I’m finally getting to dive into this game. It’s time to fire up the ole Halo skills and see what we’ve got inside the box.
Halo: Flashpoint – Spartan Edition
The main reason I wanted to get the Spartan Edition was because it had 4 Banished Elites included. Master Chief in this limited edition was an excellent bonus to be sure. I also wanted this one because it’s literally everything you need to play.
This version included the deluxe double-sided play board. All the terrain and tokens are also really nice. There’s cardboard versions included. I also got a copy of the plastic terrain set, too. More on that further down.
Inside the box is also a set of black plastic trays to store all your components. Personally, this is a big boon for me. One of the problems some games have is storage and transportation. Halo: Flashpoint fits everything back inside the box. So if you wanted to pack it up to go to the local game store or friends house you can. It’s kind of a nod to the old school LAN party days.
The various Spartans come pre-assembled and dyed in either Red or Blue. I think we all see what Mantic did there. The Brutes come in the typical grey. Another nice feature is they all fit into this tray as well.
Master Chief isn’t available in a boxed set which is why I really wanted to snag him while I could. His minature has him with an Energy Sword and he’s VERY deadly.
Here’s a look at the minis a little closer. I think Mantic nailed the scale and the look of all these minis. I really need to get them on my hobby bench and get them painted!
Extra Terrain
While I was at PAX Unplugged I also scored a copy of the Deluxe Buildable 3D Terrain Set. Now, if you’re familiar with Mantic’s Deadzone and the terrain from that then these should be familiar. That’s not a bad thing either. They have more of a Halo-vibe but the core structures are still the same.
Everything comes in these plastic bags. And I haven’t gotten to work on assembling these yet. So I’ll spare you and show you some of the pretty pictures from the included flyers.
The assembly is really easy. This terrain system uses these little blocks and pegs to secure things. You could opt to not glue things down if you wanted to keep things modular. Personally, I’m planning on building some basic shapes and using glue for the “core” pieces. I might leave some of the extras unglued and just rely on the pegs.
I’ve built and even painted the Deadzone kits before and they look great on the tabletop. And they are the perfect dimensions for playing Halo: Flashpoint.
2025 is going to be a good year for tabletop gaming. Halo: Flashpoint is really opening the doors for many of my non-tabletop gamer friends, too. I can’t wait to bust this out with them and get them into skirmish games!
Halo: Flashpoint’s first round of pre-orders have already started shipping/have arrived. You can still get in on the next wave! It’s a great game with a winning IP. So grab some buddies and play go play some Halo on the tabletop!
