Do they really need that much protection though? Secutarii Axiarch thinks so and are programmed to believe it in the Horus Heresy!

The Machine Cults of Mars are here to show-off a character this time for the Horus Heresy. The Secutarii Axiarch is here to keep enemy Infantry off the God Machines as they bring destruction on a whole new level. At least that’s what they’ve been told.

This is where the Secutarii step in – honour guard and protectors of the Titan Legions, led by a Secutarii Axiarch. These individuals are selected through a series of arcane criteria that require them to have both displayed impressive battlefield acumen and to have been involved in the defence or retrieval of a God Engine.

Secutarii Axiarch

I could understand needing a security force for the Titans while they are being maintained off the battlefield. But do they really need protection in the middle of a fight? The reality is…yes, they do actually! Titans might bring some terrifying weapons to the field but those are designed to fire away from them. When a mob of infantry gets up close that can be a problem. Keeping them from quite literally crawling around inside the Titans is what these Secutarii do!

“As part of their promotion they are given further cybernetic augments and twisted into a new form that fits the Cult Mechanicum’s strict schematics. Their upgraded bodies are then fitted with Titanshard armor, nigh-impervious plate that has been crafted from the fallen Titan the Secutarii saved. “

The Secutarii Axiarch are also sent in retrieve fallen Titans as well. They are well suited to setup a defensive perimeter around the Titan and hold the line. The Axiarchs in particular are well versed in protecting Titans and are more than capable of holding that front line. I’m sure having a massive God Machine covering the rest of the field can be pretty motivating.

The rules for the Securtarii Axiarch can be found in the Liber Mechanicum – Forces of the Omnissiah Army Book. As for the miniature itself you’ll be able to order one soon from GW. It will be cast in Forge World resin.

You keep them off the Titan’s legs and the Titan will keep them off your back!
