Want to build scenes from Interstellar, 2001, and Arrival? These LEGO sci-fi sets could become reality – they just need your vote.

Interstellar – The Tesseract

This set from KoalaBrick recreates the tesseract and weaves important moments from the film into the build. It includes dioramas of Miller’s planet (with CASE and Brand), another of Mann’s planet (with Mann and TARS), and Murph’s room (with Cooper and Murph) in the streams of the four-dimensional cube. Gargantua and the Endurance are also prominently featured.

I dig this LEGO sci-fi set because it elegantly captures iconic scenes from the movie. It’s a good size at about 16 x 16 x 19 inches and 4,650 pieces.

Arrival

The critically acclaimed movie about linguistics, metaphors, and aliens was robbed of several Oscars. It should get a kit to make up for that. HardscrabbleBricks has interpreted the interior of the alien ship and one of the learning sessions into plastic brick.

The set includes minifigures of Dr. Louise Banks (Amy Adams), Ian Donnelly (Jeremy Renner), and Colonel Weber (Forest Whitaker) and two of their military escorts. Each character comes with their hazmat gear, and Dr. Banks has an alternate outfit and language tablet. And of course, on the other side of the misty wall separating the humans from the aliens, we’ve got LEGO versions of Abbott and Costello, the heptapod aliens.

X-Files – Mulder’s Office

One of the longest-running science fiction series in network TV history is celebrated in a brick-built version from Legendary Brick2. Mulder’s 577-piece office features multiple filing cabinets, his perpetually cluttered desk, and the iconic “I Want to Believe” poster. It’s packed with details but small enough to fit on a bookshelf. This would be a great LEGO sci-fi build and display for fans.

Innerspace

It’s 1987. Outerspace is getting boring, so it’s time to go to Innerspace. A marine is checking out a new kind of ship when he unexpectedly finds himself miniaturized and floating around the body of a hypochondriac. There are dueling scientists, hijinks, and giant (I mean giant) blood cells. The adventure is directed by Joe Dante, the guy behind Gremlins. It won ILM an Academy Award for special effects.

This LEGO sci-fi set, created by BrickStability, focuses on the ship, which has many great details that include moving arms and a minifig pilot’s seat.

Inception

Christopher Nolan’s 7th movie is about a heist, the subconscious, and what constitutes reality – among other heavy things. This set by UAKhan1 attempts to recreate the team’s journey through dreams in brick. Four levels of consciousness are on risers—the van, the hotel, the snow base, and at the base is Limbo. In the center of the display is the iconic top.

The 1,632 piece LEGO sci-fi build also includes eight minifigs for Dom, Arthur, Ariadne, Saito, Eames, Yusuf, Robert, and Mal.

2001

This set has a lot going on. You can build parts of the movie, starting with a gorilla all the way through time to the star child. Creator BRO3 has even included a Kubrick minifig with a film camera. Their focus, though, is the bedroom at the end of the universe.

The Eva pod appears here as a man-made spacecraft, and the Monolith appears as a gate to another dimension. Also you can change four life stages of the protagonist (David Bowman) in the room model – his younger self in a space suit, his older self in a bathrobe, his old self in a nightgown… Part of the room model is also bed for Dave where he can rest on his long journey!

E.T.

Another creation from KoalaBrick, this beautiful build takes cues from LEGO art sets. The epic shot of a kid on his bike in front of a full moon is the backdrop to a forest of trees (which hide the alien’s ship). Below, E.T. and Elliot try to get in touch with E.T.’s home planet. It’s simple in design, but it encapsulates the wonder of the movie.

Ready Player One – The Stacks

Build the Winnebago filled real world from the dystopian novel. TheForge recreates three levels of the dilapidated stacks in this set. The first floor, where Mrs. Gilmore and her flowers reside, and the delivery drone are inspired by the opening scene of the 2018 movie. Wade, Samantha, and several other residents of the stacks fill out the set.
